Thanks for getting back to me!
After seeing how much that spray in foam didn't expand I decided that the spray foam (Great Stuff) just isn't worth it so I went to H.D. and bought some polystyrene sheet insulation and some duct tape.
I cut a section out of the sheet insulation for it to fit the areas exposed to air that I ripped out and I also have it overlapping the original spray in foam a little, the duct tape is there to just keep it in place. The insulation has an R value of about 3.5 and all I'm thinking is to stop all the heat from escaping/cold from freezing pipes from where I ripped the insulation out; it isn't sealed as tight as a drum but hopefully that's all that's needed. When the tub gets to 100 F then the heat along with some insulation should keep it from freezing. 95% of the tub is fully foamed and that other 5% is either sopping wet FF insulation or this polystyrene.
I can now talk out of both sides of my mouth! I have a FF and thermopane hot tub
