Hi all,
I just experienced a second broken valve stem on my Marquis Epic. In both instances the handle/knob used to change water flow in a 3-way valve snapped off. The valve stem is plastic and about 3/8" square. My dealer has ordered a new valve for me and offered to absorb the cost even though the tub is out of warrantee (the first broken stem was covered by warrantee). He says this is really rare to have two breaks like this and was suggesting that there could be a problem with alkalinity that might be causing a degradation of the plastic and failure. My water is in great shape and easy to keep within optimal parameters.
Should I be concerned with this? Have others experienced a broken valve more than once? Is it just coincidence or are the Marquis valves inherently weak?
We are not rough when changing valve positions and there are only 3 people using the tub. No kids or others to rough-house.
