Leisure Spa Flores pump pressure locks
« on: May 21, 2012, 01:15:38 pm »
We purchased this floor model about two years ago. We have to purge the pump every day to release trapped air so circulation pump will clean?????
Repairman came out four times and finally said he couldn't do anything???? Now Leisure Time is out of business and we have a spa that does not work???? Circulation pump does not work?? Or is the motor fried?
How do we know what is wrong and how can we avoid the cavitation problems is we replace this pump/
Motor K55MYGJN-8/55??
PLEASE HELP.
thanks

first thing I would do is verify where the pump is pulling air from? you must have a suction side leak somewhere...are the unions tight with O-rings? is your wet end cracked? something has to be wrong in order for a pump to draw enough air to "air lock" the system

I agree with Twin.

Also - check carefully to see if anything has changed. For example, did you replace the filter (could be the wrong size) or have you acid washed the filter (ruins it unless you de-grease it first), or is the filter simply plugged (could look like new, but be coated with oil, which is clear). Clean the filter with an actual 'Filter Cleaning' solution of some type.

Is the water level low, so that the pump pulls air in?

Is there a skimmer door that may be stuck or sticking?

Is there a suction safety of some sort which has failed?

Thank you!!!!
We purchased a new motor with wet end.
We will install this weekend...the old unit had a leak thru the pump PAC on the wet end.
Is it possible for air to get trapped in long hanging tube lines??
Or could we put a plug in the line from the fragrance holding pot to assure no extra air is getting in there since we don't use and it has a major suction?
