Anyone have any opinion on aluminum spa covers? I live in Michigan...so it is cold a good chunk of the year and was wondering if they do well in this climate. Plus are they worth the money? Mine is sunk into my patio so I can't put a lift system on...not sure if they are too heavy to use without a lift?

Welcome to the forum. How far is your tub sunk into your deck? There are some lip systems that can mount on the top couple of inches of the tubs side wall. Did you have a particular manufacturer or model in mind? I've seen a few come and go over the years.

This what I have to work with....

I am hoping I can lift an aluminum cover, that along with heat loss is my concern....being in Michigan.

I also don't want to have a lift to the left of the hot tub, it will block the pond....

Can you post another picture with your pond included? I have a pond too but since my tub is up on my deck, I don't have the great view that you do..I would love to see your set up.

I can't do anything about the fact you live in Michigan

But there are a couple of lifters that might work, worse case I could see you having to remove possibly 2 bricks on each side to make it work. It would hold the cover up in the air on one end, which would block your view, or be a wind shield, depending on your point of view.

I think the one I am thinking of is called "Cover Valet"

Before they were sold, the company that made those covers had a special Cover Valet that was made to fit their cover. Not sure now. Doc?

sorry if I missed it, but how do the aluminum covers do in the cold weather as far as insulation and electricity bills? They look great, but hate to spend a bunch more on energy costs.
