heater questions ,,,,,,,,Balboa
« on: October 13, 2009, 09:19:37 pm »
Hi guys I have a hot tub with a balboa heater. Over the summer it tripped the gfi.I messed around with and after unhooking the heater it stopped tripping.Ive since bought a new heater and was installing tonight and ran into some problems.I hooked it inline and started the hot tub. It ran but after about 20 minuets without heating i touched the metal  part of the heater. It shocked me and tripped the gfi. So I thought maybe it needed the mounts as a ground.I bolted the mounts on and this time it tripped the gfi and the main. Do I have something hooked up wrong? There are two wires on the pressure switch and the two that are on the heater do I have some backwards Please help as its getting cold here and I need to get it working before it freezes thank you !!!

Sounds like the heater you bought is defective, disconnect it and see if the breaker holds.

Can you post a LARGE and CLEAR picture?
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals
