what voltage is my heater
« on: February 07, 2009, 02:02:47 pm »
I am trying to wire up a used hot tub (about 12 years old) and I have everything working but although the heater seems to be working, it is not putting out very hot water at all. It says 110v on the outside of the controller box, but I am wondering if the elements are actually 220v. I remember the original owner saying something about needing 220v for something (I cannot contact the original owner). Is there a way to tell? It is a premier heater, but the model and serial number are long gone.

It could be working just fine - a 110 volt heating system will:

  • only heat if the jets are off (or on low speed if a two speed pump)
  • only heat the tub about two or three degrees per hour with the cover closed.
