strips vs. kit? Low PH, High ALK?
« on: August 23, 2008, 06:33:10 pm »
Hi! Haven't been on in a while. My water has looked beautiful for a while now. I go in maybe once every 10 days or so with my kids. I shocked my tub before Fay came to FL, and opened up today to beautiful water. I always read very low in PH, but whenever I raise it, my water tends to get cloudy, so this time, I just left my PH low. My strips show the ph low, and alk low-normal. I broke out the Taylor today for the first time in about 2 months. It reads my ph low as always, but my alkalinity didn't even turn green when I put the second chemical in! It is supposed to turn green, then add the 3rd chemical dropwise until it turned red. Well, it is red after the 1st one!

My water looks and smells good. Do I need to drain? Is this fixable? This seems to mean I have super high alkalinity and low PH. How does this happen???

I use dichlor.
