Draining methods?
« on: June 29, 2008, 10:12:36 am »
If you open the drain on the side of the hot tub is there a method of hooking a hose to it or do most people drain by gravity with a hose?  Id like to be able to direct the drainage away from the deck and grass if I can. We ran the cleaning stuff through the jets all night now it's time for fun!

I use a hose whenever I drain:  my hot tub (Hot Springs Grandee) has 2 drain connections, and both are threaded for a standard garden hose.  If your tub doesn't provide threaded connections you can always buy a dewatering pump.  I have seen them online:  they are supposed to be faster than gravity drains and allow you to clean out all the "pockets" on the seats.

when you open the drain doesn't the water just come pooring out? How do you get the hose on?  Sorry if this sounds stupid but we just got the hot tub filled and clean and I can't find information on line. We bought used.

I bought a sump pump. Much easier than unscrewing the side pannel and hooking up a hose.   I got mine refurb on eaby for like $40
