Closing the Hot Tub
« on: April 21, 2008, 02:26:25 pm »
I am going to be away for 5-6 weeks.  The Hotub will not be used during this time.  Any suggestions on if I should dump the water and leave it empty for the month and half.  It will be in late sprintg early summer.

If I do empty it.  Should I leave the cover off?  Blow out the pipes?

Thanks in advance for the advice :)

For the easiest solution (besides a tub-sitter), I would advise draining.  It'll be a lot nicer to fill with fresh water, than to potentially troubleshoot a gunky spa.

Blowing pipes out would probably be helpful (I don't know if it'll be worth the effort).

I recommend leaving the cover in place to keep debris, etc out of your spa.

I am NOT one of the true chem experts here, one of them may have better advice.

I agree with BauerN,

Definetly put the cover back on! You would run into all kinds of problems leaving your spa shell in direct sunlight all day.
I would treat this like winterizing your spa, without the antifreeze. Here a step by step procedure

Good luck
