First soak of '08 was in winds gusting to 40mph and a a temp of 15.  Stayed in long enough to make it official.

Yeah, it was ridiculous here as well. This morning I took a plunge with an ambient temp of 8 and a wind chill of -6.

I watched amazed last night :o...all of these seemingly normal people jump into the Atlantic Ocean for a New Years polar bear dip...There were older people, kids, teenagers...all running into the 42 degree water...with smiles on their faces. ..I'm thinking for what???   :-/Then I thought I can take a New Years dip too...only my water is at 101...I have a much bigger smile on my face  :D

C'mon, Boni, where's your sense of adventure?  :D

I soaked for a good hour last night in my 101* water... guess I have no sense of adventure either.  But at least I still have some sense.  :)

I just don't get it..I have been in the ocean when the water was chilly (maybe in the high 50's) but at least the air temperature was warm..I just don't see the fun in this at all...BUT maybe next New Years I will put on my bathing suit and run around the outside of my house (at night of course) and then jump in the water...the 101 degree water :D..and see what it's all about (kinda)

Supposed to get down into the teens tonight.  How about you put on your bathing suit and run around.  I'll drive down and blast you with the garden hose.  ::)

Actually good thing this silly conversation came up...I was washing flyers from the ash trees off my deck yesterday and forgot to disconnect the hose...Years ago I did that and the ice backed up into the frost free spigot and broke inside of the basement. We didn't realize it until we turned the water back on but it was a mess..

Glad to hear that I'm good for somethin'.

My wife did something similar a few years back.  Of course, she blamed me saying it was the quick connect I put on the hose.  She couldn't get it off and forgot to tell me.  Guess that makes it my fault.  ::)

New years day we got in the spa at about 5 degrees...when we got out I was inside changing and the in-home monitor alarm went off (I love that thing!) showing a DR code. We were low on water and went the spa kicked into its smart clean cycle it sucked in air so the spa shut the heater down.

It was 11pm so I went out, scantly clad, and grabbed the hose that was coiled up next to the faucet, it broke into about 10 pieces! My wife suggested that I grab a bucket and start filling that way. This was a bad suggestion on two levels...first, by this time the temp was below zero, the wind chill was well below that and I had no intention of splashing water on my sweats while carrying water.

Second, she forgets that I can't lift over 15 lbs right now and would be back in the hospital if I did so she would be the one out there and I can assure you that the spa would freeze first!

Lucky for her I had another hose in the garage! ;D 8-)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Last night, the wife and I took a soak. 8°F and the sky was crystal clear! It was a beautiful night.
And the water felt great.
