Need help with setup...

I just bought a used Hot Springs JetSetter tub. It's 3 years old and I paid $2,250. It's in great condition and I think I got a good deal? What is involved with setup? Fill it with water, then what?

After filling it with water you need to turn it on or it won't heat!

All you need to worry about is PH - range 7.2 to 7.8; Alkalinity range about 80 to 120 and calcium 150 to about 400. AND get a Taylor test kit.

PH and alkalinity up use baking soda, bring them down with PH down.

Before adjusting water figure out which sanitizer you want to try - chlorine (dichlor) or bromine. Add after you adjust the water

Depending on your area, you may want to get a bottle of meatal gone and put it in.  If you have soft water, you may need to add as much as 16 ounces of calcium boost.   Always adjust alkalinity first before PH.

Find a local dealer, most of them will test the water for you and tell you what you need to put in.

Sorry, I forget about metal as I don't have it in my water - yes you need to have this tested as well.

Did you get one that is still wired for 110V or one that was converted to 220V?  This will make a big difference in set up.  If it is 110V, all you have to do is plug it in into a dedicated 20A outlet.  If it is 220V, you need to make sure you have the subpanel that comes with the spa.  Do NOT use any ol' subpanel from Home Depot.  You must have the one  that is supplied by Hot Spring.

Here's a link to the Taylor k-2005 test kit. I would say it's the most popular one used by the members of this forum. They are worth their weight in gold!

Fill through the filter pipe with the gray cap.  Prevents air pockets.
