What's a 2005 Sundance Altamar spa worth used?
« on: September 15, 2007, 01:30:34 pm »
I know somebody selling a 2005 Sundance Altamar spa WITHOUT the stero option in the NJ/NY area.  The spa was used for one season and is kept outside on a deck.  The spa comes with steps, cover and chemicals.  I think this spa brand new in 2007 goes for like 6K but not positive.  If I were to offer to buy this used spa what is a fair price?  I'm not sure how much these things depreciate and how fast?  I know you CAN'T transfer the warranty so that's a concern of mine.

Thanks

I think a new Altimar is around 7 to 8000.00 if not more,  Offer 5 see if he goes for it, what is he asking and there will be no warranty! If hes asking 5 offer 4 a lot depends on much he wants it gone?

Just called the local spa dealer, a new 2007 Altamar is 9K.  Is the 2005 and 2007 the same exact specs?  or did they change much in the last couple of years?

what do you think a GOOD deal would be on this spa?

About the only real change was in the filtration dept, everything else should be close to the same. If it were me selling it I would want at least 5000.00 if not more but thats me.   How much is he asking????? And why does he want to get rid of it?

he really didn't give a price yet, he said make me an offer.  I just don't want to come in with something that will insult him.  He HAS to get rid of it because he is moving across the country and doesn't want to "Give" the hottub to the new owners of his house for free.  They don't want to pay any additional for the hottub.

Start at 3000.00 if he laughs go higher till he stops laughing. But I wouldnt go higher than 5000.00 how high are you wiling to go??   Set your limit at that.   Remember its gonna cost you 300 to move it unless you do it with friends and getting it hooked up that will run you 8 to 1200? Unless you do it . its gonna weigh close to 800+ pounds.

$5000? Maybe to a dealer who would give a 90 day warranty but I wouldn't think about going more than $3.5k to $4k to a private seller (assuming you see it in operation). I wouldn't be surprised if the seller says no thinking he can get more so leave your number because I can't see then getting $5k.

In 2004 you could EASILY get a Altimar without stereo for $6,200.  I had a quote for one with a Stereo for $7K in 2004.  Using traditional "resale" value for Spa's, you should be able to get it for about 50% of that price.  $3,500 would be VERY reasonable and that guy should be VERY happy to get it.  In many cases, used spas go as cheaply as $500 or $600 but those are usually 10 years old or so.  Offer him $3,000.  If he balks, offer $3,500 as a "fair price" but I would not recommend paying any more than $4K for that particular tub.  It IS a good one however and $4K would probably be a good deal.
