The ozonator does not run when main pumps are running, it will however run when the spa is in a filter cycle, and when the spa is not in use. When you use your spa and hit a pump btn it shuts off but will come back on approx 5 to 10 minutes after the pump has shut off.
The 470 is a little different, it really doesnt need to run a filter cycle as the circ pump filters approx 50,000 gallons a day. Pump 1 draws through a suction and pump 2 draws from the suction fitting on the floor (looks like a drain)and filters thru the polishing bag filter.
We had a 470 running at the fair this last year and sometime during the night a few carnnies got in the spa, there was about a pound of sand and dirt in the btm of the spa. well we ran pump 2 off and on within a few hours the sand was gone and had deposited into the polishing bag I was pretty amazed. It did a really great job of sucking it out. Try that with a nobypass filter system.
