In a different thread I mentioned that my tub would be delivered on its side. Here is the infamous "spa dolly." Not exactly elegant, but it did the trick!!!!! It was raining pretty hard, so I only have a couple of pics, and did not capture the moment of these guys lowering the thing to the ground......by hand.....again it was not elegant, but I was impressed by how level they got it in the gravel box, given that the gravel is not very amenable to compaction. (ie, as you stand on it or try to push the tub around, the tub sort of digs into the gravel) They had to maneuver it though my front garden- not an easy task, but the rotatable wheels on that thing made it able to turn almost 360 deg. in place.

Now the rain is slowing down my electrical work. Have to wait till friday!!!!!!

Yes.....pictures......pictures are GOOD....and now you can't have your electric done as soon as you thought, so you've got time to take them and turn them rightside up, even.

yeah, not sure why the photo is turned. i thought I turned it 180 deg in photobucket, but, well, guess I did not. There will be more photos, but I want it looking "finished" first.

They were good guys, even if they did pee on my tub.   :-/
In the process of moving the tub to horizontal, the two doors on the side of the tub against the dolly got cracked/bent. Soon to be replaced, of course. They were very patient with me and my tapemeasure and level.   But the tub is exactly wher I wanted it !

How did they go about getting it level?

Not trying to be negative, but shouldn't a new spa come in some kind of factory pacaging to protect it from damage at delivery?

Karl- I buit a gravel box that was already levelled, but was worried that manipulating the tub would move gravel unevenly and it would end up not level. Amazingly, as we slid it back and forth a few inches here and there to get it right in place, it levelled out on its own. This particular spa has a "forever floor" (Arctic) which is a fiberglass (I think) base with  ridges/spaces that I think helped the levelling process a bit.

It DOES look huge upright. It is 93" (almost 8')

Dan- I wa a little disappointed that they were not clever enough to have moving tarps or something between the spa and the dolly, but they are going to fix the problem so no harm done. The spa is a floor model (I sat in it 3 times), so has not been in "new" packaging for a while.

I cannot believe I have to have an empty tub in my yard for THREE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!

We pad and shrink-wrap floor models before we even take them off the floor. Glad they are going to fix, but ...

thank you, HS dealers for pointing out how well you care for your customers, but I'm insisting on being HAPPY with the spa in MY yard, and I'm giving my dealer a little slack because he is new at all this. I appreciate you looking out for me, but I knew when I bought the spa that I was getting the one that was most comfortable to me, and that the sacrifice was a dealer who I really like, but who is very new and a little flakey. Yes, he should not have let it happen, but I am so over compulsive about worrying about details, that I have to let this go. He is going to fix it, and I assume that he will learn from it.

Now, if once the tub is running, if I have problems and he is not responsive, you can believe I'll be knocking on his door at 2am and demanding better service. I wont let myself be taken advantage of, but I will try to be understanding for now!

Chas, actually if you look closely it is a Canadian Flag sticker not an arrow down sticker.  Im sure the crazy canucks that make it need the help to know what side is what, however, in this case, just putting a canadian touch on an american market.

IF you ever find yourself in that bind, be sure to take a spotlight (to shine in his glazed over eyes), a BIG hammer, and a large male friend along for the ride.....a Rottweiller wouldn't hurt, either.
Congrats, again, anne! Ya know, I understand what they're saying, and I understand what you're saying...but if the dealer makes it all good for you, then you're better off than giving yourself gray hair over this.

you can deliver them with the packaging, but it makes it more difficult as you pretty much don't have any thing to grab on to most of them don't come with handles for delivery.  for a straight shot on concrete you can deliver them with out much effort. throw in sand, gravel, uneven pavers, uneven ground turns, leans, you get the picture... you want to be able to get a good grip on the thing.  even if it is strapped to the dolly they can still potentially tip.   if your delivery crew is good you won't have many incidents of damage to unpackaged spas.  but s@#t happens, and as long as it is taken care of promptly most people can understand and deal with it like anne. jmho
