FLO lights on again in Jacuzzi 355
« on: February 28, 2006, 09:59:58 pm »
Well about afew weeks ago my spa shut down and I had the ---- {Watch Dog on}.Waters been in spa for a month.
Shut the spa off for a   few mins and the ----{watch dog}went off..
The the FLO was on for a few days and then everything worked greatttttt
As on Sunday the FLO light is on again and is still on as of now.I tried changing my Filters and even taken my filters off so the water would go though the spa with no filters on when I had the jets on for a hour or so.....
Ok so do you good people think its a FLO switch?
Hate paying a guy $90 and he fixes it and the problem might come back on again thats if he does not replace the FLO switch. Thanks JohnnyT

Why would it cost you $90, isn't your spa covered by a warranty for such failures?  Call your dealer and have it looked into.  You have already eliminated the filter issue, it could be a bad flow switch.  Then againm maybe your deale will have some suggestions.  Let us know the outcome.

The Spa is 1 1/2 years old.......
I see that many dealers charge you a fee to come out to your home and many don't....JohnnyT

He charges $90?  We charge a housecall of $50, your warranty is for 5 years and should cover parts and labor, but you seem to have a couple issues lurking in the background, ----.  If we don't fix it right the first time, we are back out there at NO charge until it's right.  If you are in the freeze belt, you could be tempting fate and a potentially bigger problem that would not be covered under warranty.  But then, here again your dealer is able to cover it under warranty if the freeze damage occured because of a warranty problem.  This is usually a dealer call.

Is your dealer there for you?  He may have some phone suggestion to trouble shoot the symptoms.

possibly, jt can you tell if the circ pump is turning? try sticking your hand in front of circ pump discharge and feel if water is coming out, if not the circ pump might be bad, if circ pump is working and you have no filters in and the spa still does not heat it probably is a flow switch.  if you want to you can take off the front panel and see if your flo switch is closing.  on the right side of control box coming off the heater there will be a clear plastic tee fitting with a post coming straight down and a little paddle like device on a flexible piece of metal.  if they are touching and you still have a flo, then it is a bad flow switch, more than likely.  if the switch is not closing chances are the circ pump is not working.  try those and tell your dealer what you find so he has and idea of what he needs to bring if you do have him come out.

Taking the front panel off means removing how many screws?

For $90.00 your dealer should be able to fix it.

Nope the Watch Dog came on about 3 weeks ago,Then I shut the power off for 30 mins and turned it on and the watchdog went away....
Then the Flo went on with the spa at 65 degrees and a few days later the spa warmed up to 101 degrees and everything was fine till Sunday.....
Sunday the FLO came back on and the TEMP  was 89 degrees and turned on the Jets and got the TEMP up too 92 degrees within 2 hours but the FLO was still on....
I am glad the if I pay $90 and if its not fixed then the guy will come back for free.....
I hate going into the spa because of the watchdog that went on a few weeks back.
Whatever is wrong i am sure the $90 Traveling Fee will be worth it...Why should i play inside of the spa...Thanks JohnnyT

i said if you want to and understand why you wouldn't, but you should at least find out if the circ pump is working or not because if the dealer is worth anything he/she should be asking that before they  come out.  some dealers keep all of the parts in stock and some don't would hate to see you tub delayed being fixed because he didn't have the right part and had to order it.

You can spend the trip fee of $90, and have the tech find and fix the problem, or you can purchase you own flow switch, hope it's the problem, put it in, hope it's correctly installed, and won't be used against you in any future warranty issues, and probably spend at least the same amount of money.  Not sure if there's any advantage to DIY here, when you have the warranty.

yep....warranty's for peace of mind, IMHO......a 1 1/2 year old tub, if you're the original purchaser SHOULD have a good portion of warranty on it yet...if it costs you $90 now to get someone out there....at least it's fixed by a "pro" who's supposed to know all about the equipment....and if it's not RIGHT and you still have issues, sounds like they'll STILL get to come out to fix until it's right, for that initial investment.
Otherwise, why get a tub with a good warranty?

Yea I feel maybe its a FLO switch or maybe something else.
I really don't want to go under the spa and start looking whats wrong, and I feel for the $90 let the TECH find the problem thats what the parts and labor for on the spa...
Bought a 2006 Stang Gt a few months back and sometimes when I make a Left turn I hear a sqeek, maybe i should look under the car and find out whats wrong lol.Yea its a annoying sqeek.JohnnyT

you don't have to get under the spa to check if the circ pump is working.  you asked for advice, so i gave you some suggestions, if you are just going to have the tech come out, why waste your time asking for help on the message board?

Pumps are working well.............
Only thing I am saying since The Watch Dog came on a few weeks back and I think its time for a tech to come over.....
As the manual says.....---- Watch Dog,,,Call your service center because there could be a problem that can cause damage to your spa...............
I can see if the Flo was on and the watch dog was neverrrrr on  then i would not worry as much as I am now since winters almost over..Sometimes its best to pay the $90 and get the thing fixed and then enjoy the spa before winters goneeeee...JohnnyT

...and someimtes it's nice to have the dealer come and fix it for free because it's under warranty. I could see a small trip charge but a $90 charge to come out to fix your spa while it's under warranty? That is steep.
