PH Meters

Has anyone had any experience with the digital PH meters?.  Being slightly color blind, the ph test strips
are almost useless for me.

I think there's some people who use meters here. Search for past posts.

Just a FYI, they do need calibration every so often but it is an alternitive for you.

Get a Hanna pH Checker off e-bay.  They're about $24 plus shipping.  At the same time order a couple of extra pH Standard checks.  This supplier has been quite reliable.  It is very easy to calibrate and even easier to check the pH.  Much much easier than using strips.  Check the calibration every few weeks.  I keep the electrode in the calibration pouch that came with the meter and use the other pouches for checking calibration.  It's not hard, really.

I have this one  http://cgi.ebay.com/Hanna-pH-TESTER-METER-Aquarium-Hydroponics-Lab_W0QQitemZ5858857320QQcategoryZ294QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I also bought these as back-up calibration solutions.

rustedduck,

I bought a digital pH meter off ebay a while ago.

Search around on ebay.  I paid about $30-40 or so but can't remember exactly.

I use it for the hot tub, the pool, AND an occasional check of the pH of my well water.

It's great and seems to be very accurate.  A lot more convenient than using the color test and the "range" that it indicates is much wider than test strips.

Go for it !
