off on vacation yet again!!!
« on: January 20, 2006, 12:10:48 pm »
well I am leaving tommorow for another family vacation.  I will be going to cuba for the week for relaxation.

Wife is prego and moody and the little one is all couped up in the winter months.

I have to say, I posted about the hot tub wearing off on me, but over the past two weeks being down in the basement finishing it, really has made me appreciate having the tub to soak in after.

I hope the week away will further my desire to get back to the tub.

Anyways take care, and I get some pics of hot tubs down in cuba at my resort.  Im just going out to chemical the tub and get it ready for us to go away.  Take care for now, and I will see you all soon.

 Cuba, eh?

Have fun.  I've heard there are some great beaches and resorts there.
Not to mention cigars.

Wonder if they'll lift the ban someday for those of us in the states.

You must be from Canada.  I flew into Cuba a couple years ago from the Dominican Republic and stayed in Cienfuegos.  Hopefully this info won't be passed to the authorities and my passport revoked.

As a single guy at the time, I followed a friends suggestion and still rate it as one of the best weeks of my life.  Ahh, would a Cohiba and a mojito be good right now.

My hubby was born in Havana!  His mother has been back a couple of times in the last few years to visit Aunts that she may never see again (being they are in their 80's).  I told her that I would love to visit and see where they are from.  She told me it isn't the same.  Castro has let things deteriorate so much that it isn't her homeland anymore.  (My Mother & Father-in-law have both become naturalized citizens of the US.)  The resorts are great, but just remember, the regular citizens of Cuba are not allowed on the property (unless they are working).  The regular citizens are never sure when they will get electricity during the day (it comes and goes) and hot water is very hard to come by.  Everything she takes with her she gives to the family that she has left living on the island.  They are very poor and aren't able to afford simple things we take for granted.  I feel very humbled by the stories my in-laws have told me about the times they endured before being allowed to leave.  I have a unique appreciation for being an American!

PS My husband takes his Citizenship Oath next Friday!  I am very proud of him.  He procrastinated enough, but at least this way we can travel abroad easier.

I'll be within 40 miles of Cuba on our cruise.  As Americans we of course can't go there. I hate to say it, but I wish that old bastard Fidel would hurry up an die. (I've never said that about any other human, but what is keeping that fool alive?  The devil must not want him either.)   I've love to see Havana in my life time.

Lori...I enjoyed reading your comments.  It's encouraging to hear stories from those people who have come from disadvantaged countries and appreciate the freedom Americans have.  We can't imagine the poverty that average citizens live in under socialist rule.
We should never forget the sacrifices that have been made so that we, the people, can live free.

Thanks for making me stop a moment to appreciate this country!

I had a reality check visiting Brazil, where my wife is from.  Over there, you are rich or poor.  The poor are very poor and seeing kids on the street begging for food and being forced into crime breaks your heart.

My wife never had air conditioning before living here.

In Full Metal Jacket, wasn't it Missouri that the drill inspector mentioned when he said only steers and qeers came from there?  It was either Missouri or Iowa, I can't remember.

Either one will fit the bill.
