Under the stars
« on: November 21, 2004, 11:05:40 pm »
Had great luck this weekend.  Got in the tub Saturday night around 7, saw a very bright meteorite, probably a stray Leonid. It covered half the sky and lasted 3 seconds. Got in tonight at 10 and saw a brighter one that didn't last quite as long.  Then the clouds came in.

Our weather here was terrible during the main event, these two stragglers were all I saw.   2 years ago when this storm hit its 32 year peak, we went camping with 5 other people on two sites and invited about anotehr 25 people up to our site and had a party that was one people will talk about the rest of thier lives.    We averge over 100 per hour from dusk to 4am and from around 5am to 5:30 we probably saw another 500 more.  The uninformed might have thought the world was coming to an end.
