Hot Tub Covers - Polyethylene or furnature cover style ...any good?

We can potentially get a LOT of wind being on a hill, and brutally cold Great-Lakes winters. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I did not immediately see anything from a couple searches. Given our potential for wind, it seems to me that one of these caps would help reduce drafts through our insulated hot tub cover and help prevent heat loss. The furniture cover type covers (see link below) say they are breathable and they say they allow condensation to pass through, sort of like a car cover. The poly covers seem like more of a tarp-like material. I'm leaning towards the tarp-like material. With the wind we have I would think it would keep most condensation issues at bay.

Would the poly cover trap condensation and damage a top? What's the verdict on these things?

I had some trouble with a particular tree shedding sticky seed husks onto one of my tub covers once and made a cover like this out of a fitted bed sheet. But I only used it during the shedding season. My guess would be yes, condensation could be a problem with one of these waterproof ones.

Not that it is necessarily needed full time. Does it increase the longevity of a cover enough to offset the 70 bucks? Maybe.
