Water chemicals...newbie
« on: November 25, 2015, 04:06:28 am »
So got my new spa, all working great added the chemicals for the first time and used it.
On the instruction sheet it talks about using 1tsp of Chlorine per person after using.
Is this correct ?
The spa has a "one touch sanatize" button which I have used.

Should I be testing the water before I use it again?

Any advice appreciated.

thanks

It's not as simple as that but it's not difficult either. What you want is to have 3 ppm of chlorine 20 minutes after you put it into the tub. Depending on the size of the tub and bather load it could be a little or it could be a lot. Not sure if 1 teaspoon would be enough, I have a 400 gallon tub and I put in 2 tablespoons for that 3 ppm amount.

Are you using a nature 2 or a frog mineral cartridge? That could make a difference but I never held much stock in them.

I don't know what a  1 touch sanitize button does, but you want to keep the cover open for a few minutes after you add the chemicals to let the water off gas.
