Dimension One Journey or Nordic Impulse DP
« on: August 12, 2014, 11:32:30 am »
Like many others, I'm trying to decide between a couple of tubs. There are nearby dealers for both of these, and I suspect either would be fine, but I need some help in the final decision!
Both of these _just_ fit between some bench-like stones on our patio.

Impulse pros:
o $4K vs $4.5K (from initial request for pricing)
o 300 vs. 240 gallons
o "plasma gap" ozone generation vs UV bulb

Journey pros:
o circulation pump
o twice as heavy dry weight (makes me _think_ it's better constructed - don't really know)
o cup holders (gotta put that martini glass somewhere)

What do ya'll think?
Thanks

The most important pro/con well come from actually getting into them and feeling the jets and comfort of the seats.  I'd bet the decision will be easy at that point.

That's a very good point. Unfortunately, the D1 dealer doesn't stock the Journey. The Nordic dealer has the Impulse DP, but it was dry - I assume I could talk him into filling it. Maybe I could talk the D1 dealer into getting a Journey in for a wet test - not sure.

I'm not sure ozone is a "pro" compared to the UV bulb, but I suppose I'm biased as I have a Jacuzzi that has the UV bulb.

Well, the Nordic salesman told me that UV bulbs are "70s technology". And a salesman would never exaggerate.  ;)
I haven't found a good discussion of UV-based ozone generate vs. CD vs. plasma gap. I do know that a glass vacuum tube seems outdated. Or does a UV-based system also clean through exposing the water to UV light? I haven't seen this mentioned.

The D1 is going to have a similar ozone system.  However, with circa pump it will be far more effective.
