help please with LCD display
« on: June 17, 2004, 06:44:32 pm »
The LCD display/control panel on my Catalina spa went "dark" on me.  One day it was illuminated and the next it wasn't.  The heat and pump are still running and the buttons on the LCD still appear to control the tub - I tried using the buttons to turn on the jets and it worked (but, I was, of course "flying blind" since the panel wasn't displaying).  Since the panel is still arguably controlling the functions it doesn't seem like it's a total loss (or even a fuse if one exists for the panel).  Is it simply a bulb that lights the panel?  Help, please?

Thanks,
Rick

Try rebooting the spa, you can do this by turing the breaker off for a few seconds then back on. If that does not do you probaly will need a new topside panel.

It does sound as if you need to replace your topside control.

How old is the spa? Is it still under warranty?
220, 221, whatever it takes!

The spa is 6 years old - no warranty left.  How do I find my local Catalina dealer?  Their website simply list a regional rep.

try to contact a rep for your area. I have heard that it may take weeks for a response.

Is there no display at all or is it just not backlit at night. if the latter there should be bulbs under the top side pry it up and look.  if no display at all, you will need new topside.  The topside should be a balboa product.  if you can't find a dealer you should be able to find the part online or through a local service tech who does all brands of spas.  hope that helps
