Viking II vs. Dream Maker Eclipse
« on: August 10, 2012, 09:47:56 pm »
Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has either of these and/or any good or bad news to share about either mfg or these specific models.  Somewhat have it narrowed down to these two that would fit our needs and budget.

Viking Model:

Dream Maker Model:

Viking has a better warranty; not sure if Dream Maker units are problem prone.

Lastly, was kicking around a Softub 220 model, but for $3K, seems a bit high to me.  The above two are around $2700 and $2300.

Thanks for any feedback!!

Bought a larger model Viking about a year ago.  It had a very slow non-pressure leak at the skimmer, upon initial fill-up.  Dealer came out and repaired it on the spot, two days later.  No problems since.  I'd but another. :)  Bought a Jacuzzi jetted bath tub eight years ago and they had a factory rep out three times befor they got the multiple leaks fixed.  :(

Thanks.  Guess we are leaning towards that Viking II model; their warranty is much better (lifetime on shell vs. 3yrs with Dream Maker, and better on parts and labor as well vs. just 90 days with Dream Maker) and it would be bought from a local dealer, so a few minor pros with that.  It is also a 110/220 model, that flexibility might come in handy down the road, or perhaps make it more attractive to a future buyer down the road if we ever upgrade, etc.  For the $400 difference (which includes having to pay sales tax locally), these pros and it being a tad deeper with a few more jets, yeah, may bite at this one unless anyone else has good or bad stories about either of these companies, etc.  I also have "heard" that this Viking unit (and others like it) would be easier to service as the sides can come off, vs. the one solid piece of the Dream Maker, in which knock-out holes on the bottom would have to be used to feel through to fix something - seems to make sense - more time, more labor, more money for a repair down the road, no???
