Temp while away

We are going away for a couple of days. While we have set the temp at 103...what do people tend to drop their temp down while they are away?

For a couple days I'd do nothing or maybe lower it to 99 so when yo get back you can turn it up and it'll be ready in an hour. If I were gone a couple weeks then maybe I'd lower it more.

Depends on how quickly you want to jump back in.  Our tub is at our weekend place, so we usually drop it to 90 during the week, get there late Friday night so its ready sat morning.

Id say 90 to 95 is it hot where you live?  If so I doubt the spa will even lose much temp wise, so turning it down to 90 won't hurt.  You also might want to hit it with a couple tblspns of chlorine.  If you are using chlorine?

This is about what I do when we go away for 4 days or more.  IMO water goes bad faster when its hotter.  My tub can go from 99 back to 103 in an hour, so even if we want to get right in the tub, I get out of the car, turn it up, and start unpacking, and we usually wait till after dark anyway. (for our neighbor's sake. )

cooler water lowers sanitizer demand, i think we'd all agree on that.  from a strictly financial viewpoint you have to estimate how many minutes/hours your heater would run during your absense to maintain a higher temp.  compare that to how long it will have to run once you get back to heat from a lower temp.  unless you are specifically planning on using it shortly after getting home i'd say the lower the better.
