Help with Jacuzzi J345
« on: May 15, 2012, 12:36:18 am »
Hey everyone,

A few days ago my Jacuzzi J 345 started making noises which I assumed to be the pump but still worked.  Well today water is pouring out the bottom.  I shut it off and then removed the side cover.  A small plastic adapter barb (6540-030) was broken and half.  I have a few questions about this:

1) Would this be the output of the pump? going to jets possibly?
2) Should I simply replace this piece or investigate a possible block in the water lines?
3) Where can I order this part and get it shipped to Canada?  I have tried numerious places online and can't ship to Canada for under 100 dollars shipping :(

Thanks in advance,

Brad

Welcome to the forum.  It sounds like your in the right area, a photo might be helpful, but I'm sure our jacuzzi experts will recognize your description.

It's a by-pass nipple for bleeding air out of the pump, cost around .30 cents and lowes/Hd and no it doesn't connect to the jets.  Were you able to get the threaded part out?

Usually stress on the hose that it connects to.  Hard to say, it's plastic and plastic can fail?  We see it happen a couple times a year.  Usually older spa's.    If the thread is still in there you can take a flathead screwdriver and heat it up with a torch, not mega red hot though.  While the end is hot stick it in the the threads so it kind of melts in, let cool the turn slowly counter clockwise while applying a little pressure.     Just make sure the threads are still in there!   You don't want to melt the threads that are meant to be there on the pump head.  Thats a bad thing!
