Possible Ozonator ??
« on: August 14, 2013, 07:23:23 am »
Guys.

I had the side covers off the hot tub at the weekend for a little preventative maintainance on the frame, and spotted a clear polythene hose coiled and tied up.
I guess the internal diameter was about 15mm.
This had a small amount of water inside it.
Being an inquisitive person, I unclipped it to see what it was, only to find the end capped off.
I can categorically say that it is without doubt capped off, and that it's not a breather valve or anything.

Could this be for an ozonator.?
I couldn't see where the other end terminated as it disappears into the foam.
For obvious reasons, i don't really want to cut the end off unless I know that I can fit an ozonator on to it.

And then to assist further. I can see ozonators on Feabay quite cheap. What are any advantages/disadvantages to fitting an ozonator.

Having just googled what one does, I think that this tube is indeed for on Ozonator.

http://www.hottubessentials.com/spa_hot_tub_ozonators_info.htm

The above article mentions a small jet near the bottom of the tub.
Mine has a really small jet in the bottom (deep end), I wondered what purpose this served with it being so small.
I assume the jet is where the ozone would enter the tub, had it been installed.
Probably an optional extra no doubt.
Something I may look at fitting in the future.

Some spas have a small dedicated jet for the ozone, some don't. Sounds like yours doesn't as the tube you see IS for ozone to be hooked too.
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

I think mine has the Ozone jet, as there is a very small pointless jet in the foot well.
It does blow water out, but as it's so small (about 10mm exit), i don't see its function.

I think the polythene tube is probably for the Ozone generator, and more than likely connected to the jet in the footwell, as it goes off in that general direction.
However, I have no Ozone generator fitted to the tub.
The connections are there for one though.
