Concrete slab price

Anyone have any idea how much a 10 x 10 foot concrete slab should cost?  Got one estimate and was just wondering how high or low they are.  Just a rough estimate would be helpful!!

Not quite two months ago, I had a 7' x 8' pad poured for $600 in northeast Texas. It was difficult to find some either because they were too busy, thought it too small a job, or thought it too big a job. This guy came from about 30 miles away. I paid for 3 cubic yards of concrete (the concrete supplier's minimum order) but only used one. I could have made more efficient use had I planned a bit better. However, I saved enough by doing the wiring and building my own deck and privacy fence that I wasn't too bent out of shape over it.

Thanks Roger, that's very helpful!!!  We actually got an estimate of $1250, but it's for a 10 x 10 foot slab, plus two 3 x 4 foot slabs at the bottom of two sets of steps off the deck.  We also built our deck ourselves and my husband is doing the wiring - we just didn't want to have to do the slabs ourselves also (even though we do have a cement mixer sitting in the middle of our yard right now).  I'm getting too old for this!!!!

Our slab was 10.5 by 10.5 and we paid $350 plus the cost of concrete and I did the rebar and forming myself. The cost for your slab is as follows based on minimum 5 man hour charge (2 guys minimum 2.5 hours with travel) to come out and do the rebar and forming plus minimum 5 man hours charge to pour concrete. Remove the forms yourself after a week to save some money

Concrete minimum 5" thick     = $300
2x6 and stakes                      = $50
rebar 10M 12" x 16" grid         = $75
labour 10 hour x $45              = $450
                              Total       = $875.00

If you are getting 2 each 3x4 foot slabs poured as part of the deal the $1250 is high but not unreasonable. It is always worthwhile getting 3 prices. It is very hard to float a level slab without getting ponding so check references to see if they have done similar work. Most slabs are poured with a slope so floating them as near to perfect as possible is not an issue.

Good luck and post pictures. Here is our slab. There is very little ponding as the crew did an excellent job. Concrete is the way to go. The rest of cedar planks are in place, the grass grew in great and the wisteria is flowering despite how I butchered the roots.

Here's where my spa will go - one set of steps will be on the left where the railing ends.  We dug out most of where it will sit before we built the deck - now there's a lot of rocks and concrete in the hole.  (just had to try to post a picture!!!)

Now that I have seen the picture if the $1250 includes the final site prep., the forming, the rebar and the 2 additional slabs you have a good price. I would still get another price and check references. If the slab is not level you will not be satisfied.

I paid $750 for an 8x8 6-inch thick slab (Hot tub) as well as another 10x12 area around it 4-inches thick (No weight to support in that area) as well as the outside wiring (5 feet away & included the GFCI).  I later laid the slate tiles myself at a cost of around $300 (bought the slate for something like $0.35/per 12x12 tile from Lowes on clearance).  Here's a picture of the completed effort...

Sorry about the 3-year old snow-covered picture.  It turns out it's the only one I have stored of it.  I will update it and replace it with a newer one in the morning when it's light enough to allow a better picture...

I think I paid about $600 for my concrete foundation from
a guy that "speak no-ing-gless".

I would highly advise going with concrete.

It's the best and most stable.

You are spending thousands on a tub...don't scrimp on the foundation.

Like buying a great car and putting cheap tires on it to save a few bucks.

Wow, zep... I think you snuck in my back yard to take that picture! One difference though - I like how the conduit was ran up through the slab - I didn't think of that. Fortunately, it's hidden by the pier that I built from the deck to the tub.
