My most favorite hydrotherapy technician came by to see me today:
Hannah stopped by to let me know that she is considering dropping out of college and pursuing my dreams of her becoming a full-time part-time hydrotherapy tech. It is beginning to sink in that college is only holding her back from having the very best job available anywhere. Since she checks this forum on occasion, please feel free to post some words of encouragement that might help her to make the right decision.

As the helpful person I am, I'll chime in; for Hannah's sake, of course ::) College is a big waste of time, hard work, lots of money and for what? You end up working for someone else (most of the time). Find a job you like, or better yet start your own business. If that doesn't work out, I'm sure with her credentials, she could marry some rich oil tycoon. She should try out for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders; she looks like one standing next to that Jetsetter :-*

Yep, Hannah is 5'11" of pure sugar and lip gloss. She's a really good gal and even though she has a 3.6 GPA, I just can't see much future for her continuing along her present course of academia.
By the way, did you get those pictures I sent you Spiderman?

Stay in school and get your degree. Maybe if you parlay it right Term will someday be your technician. (PLEASE NO PICS OF THAT).
If you get out don't be afraid to go back someday. Life in the 'real world' chased our two sons back. Our oldest got his Accountanting degree when he was 26.
Above all don't leave school only to persue an MRS. 'degree'. That is a HUGE mistake. :-X

I'll second all that with the exception of STAY IN SCHOOL - PERIOD!!!!
Sometimes life gets in the way and school will never get done. I have 3 years into an Electrical Engineering degree and have an a$$ for a boss but without that degree I'm screwed.
With a 16 YO son, I am drilling it into him to get a good education and enjoy life as a teen (not too much though! ;D) and when he gets older hopefully he'll have a great life. Of course it sounds like Term is in a great dealership so being able to own that dealership wouldn't be too bad either!

I'll throw my two cent's in here, if anyone cares....get the degree and, on the side, work at your dream....
I worked for the man with my first degree...put some$$$$ away and got the second degree...The dream one...I LOVE what I do now....But, without the first degree and job, I wouldn't have been able to make that jump, to what I was always told was an area a woman could NEVER make a living at.
Yes, things have changed for women but, it never hurts to work the day job, do the degree in the evening/part time if you need to, and have what you really enjoy.....That first degree can come in handy when you may need something to fall back on.....I've needed that at times and so have many of my friends. Nurses, accountants, teachers, egineers...gee I never realized how many of my friends are second degree people...I could make that list really long...
Anyway, follow the dream. Just have a GOOD back up when the S**T hit's the fan, as it almost always does in life.
My cents worth, for what it's worth.....P.S. My spelling is awful tonight....it's been a long day. Please excuse the errors. :-/

Hannah,
SCHOOL, is the best place to be, for someone who doesn't know what they want to be

WSN, I'm sure your friends would be happy to see they are held in such high reguard.. ;D ;D ;D

Sorry Term, I have to agree with the Stay In School sentiment.
Hannah, you have UT-Tyler right there. Go to school and work for the big man. I can't imagine that either Term or R.G. would hold that against you.
STAY IN SCHOOL and SAY NO TO DRUGS ;) ;D ;D

not complaining, but her shirt seams to be too small for her :o

For what it is worth.. I got a BS degree and two master degrees.. all paid for by the gov't...(Thank all of you for your tax contributions!)
Everyone laughed at me years ago.. but now I have over 32 years of gov't service and qualify for a full pension when I decide to retire....My joke with my Dad is my only real job skill is finding ways to get more out of the gov't... and I own a hot tub and he doesn't....
This short story must have some point to it.. oh yes.. stay in school... get the degree.. do what you want then....so you too can stay in hot water up to your neck!

I appreciate this sentiment as I'm sure Hannah will, too. Hopefully this post will help her to realize that she can sit in hot water all day whilst pulling in a hefty $10/hour (which I'm sure none of the fine forum members are making that kind of money sitting in a spa!)
Also, like you, I am encouraging her to get on the government welfare rolls so that all of her needs can be met. Thanks to all of you who are helping my case with your input.

So... what DO you do now? (which of the Man-only) professions did you crack into? My wife is going through a mid-life crises and has no idea what she might want to do when our smallest starts going to school next year. Looking for ideas. Right now she is "dabbling" in Real Estate (feast or famine) and she has 10 years of experience in the medical field (Med Tech Lab)

Since you asked Ndaubunka...I have a degree in Social Services and Secondary Education...My second degree is in Horticulture, specializing in native plant/enviromental design and small spaces landscape design.
I currently work doing design for small spaces, and also do interior/exterior home staging for the real estate market.
Never a dull day, never a have a boss looking over my sholuder. days of very hard work, final product w/before and after leaves a wonderful sense of satisfaction. Not to mention it pays well.
It didn't start that way, I held part time jobs while building a client base and going back to school....I'm a happy camper now. I love the work and, really enjoy the look on the client faces when they see the final outcome....It's work, don't get me wrong but, it's work I enjoy doing.
It took 5 years of classes, part time sub jobs and, the occasional grunt job, dealing with a teenage son, ate lot's of pasta and mac n' cheese but, the end goal was worth it. I enjoy my job. I have met some wonderful people, many who have become dear friends, and best of all I wake up in the morning wanting to go to work....LOL, now does this sound like an ITT tech infomercial???!!!! I have to chuckle, I must sound nutty but, hey, I'm giving myself a pat on the back...so what!!! I feel I deserve it. Tell the wife to GO FOR IT....SHE WILL NEVER KNOW UNLESS SHE TRIES! Why regret what you shoulda, woulda, coulda done........ :D
