Title: Ipod Freezing up?  and favorite hot tub song
Post by: hottbpete on February 08, 2007, 02:51:47 pm
It has been brutally cold here in St. Louis for a few weeks.  Great Tubbing weather if you can stand the wind when you get out.  A funny thing keeps happening though.  My ipod seems to "freeze" up.  It just stops playing and then comes back to life after it gets warmed up in the house.  Has anybody run into this issue?

Also....best song to meelow out in the tub:

Eric Clapton, Live....Old Love

It's just an electronic device that isn't designed for those temps. :-/

I love that entire CD and that's a GREAT tune!

I've seen some waterproof ipod cases out on the market that you can actually submerse your ipod in the case up to 10ft. Then you can keep the ipod in the warm spa environment. Just a thought.

If it's the IPOD with a hard drive - too cold for the unit and the battery may be getting it's charged drained ... like a car battery in the winter.

You have to remember that these small elctromechanical devices aren't made to work under all conditioms. I think if you look at the atmospheic conditions that they say it is ok to use it  in probably 40 to 90 degrees.

Vinny-  you were just a few degrees off.  I found a posting on Apple that stated that Ipods do not do well below 32 degrees.

I will have to wait for my outdoor audio system to be installed :(

Thanks

I had the same problem with my digital camera at Christmas when I was at the Grand Canyon.  It was about 7 degrees out and my camera would take 2 or 3 pics then freeze and shut down.  When we got back to the hotel and it was warm, it worked just fine.

Now there's an idea...an Ipod Jacket.  This could be your chance. ;D
