Title: best online for chemicals
Post by: teach on November 29, 2006, 10:05:22 am
Just wondering where many of you buy chemicals?  If possible to say, what online store has the best prices.   Thanks

Dont know if the prices are the best, but I'm super happy with rhtubs.com. Great selection of stuff, free delivery on orders over $50, and for me (in CA) SUPER fast delivery. Scary-fast.......it was almost like he read my mind and sent the order before I placed it..... ::)

I keep trying to explain to my employees that our goal is to have someone's package on their doorstep 15 minutes before they place the order.  ;D

I've had good luck with http://www.spadepot.com/.  They sell name brand stuff with free shipping.

Check out  Meyer Enterprises.  I found them on Ebay.  Great prices, fast shipping.  I've only used them once, in order to try some new things (N2 and MPS) at a great price.

Following other forum friends advice, I will continue to use my dealer for my "regular" supplies, like Metal Gon and Dichlor.

They don't need to know that I am trying new things! ;)

You have to balance price with free shipping. A few items I buy are more expensive here than other sites who don't have free shipping.  How much I am buying can affect which one is really cheaper.

I get them from my dealer, atleast until my $100 in-store gift certificate runs out. ;) (I had them throw it in at closing  :))
I'll probably continue supporting my dealer as they have met or exceeded all my needs thus far. If that changes I'll probably go to Leslie's.(it's close to home and has similar pricing)
As far as best prices, I have found that everybody is pretty close to eachother.

I have always heard people say how happy they are with RHTubs.  Anyone know where I can order online from a canadian supplier to save on shipping.

Hey Doc,
Does shipping chems to Canada cause all the U.S. Border Patrols or the Canadian Mounties to get their panties in a wad or is it just an expense thing?  I noticed you only offer the free shipping to contiguous U.S.  Just curious...for Bosco's sake... :-?

Chems can be a problem, especially oxidizers (chlorine, bromine, shock). These have to ship as "hazardous" if crossing an international border, and it ain't cheep. Even the other stuff, with the added GST, PST and brokerage fees, can add up.

Leslies is good for some chems but their dichlor is low end stuff. I use some of their chems myself and use the trichlor for the pool. Leslies sometimes has some great sales so if you happen to catch one, prices can be really cheap.

But the dichlor is 52% active chlorine ... Doc sells 62%, you use less to get the same PPM. But if you do the math and it comes out about the same or cheaper ...

The Leslie's hear in St. Louis carries Leisure Time products(what I presently use) and their dichlor is 55% available chlorine. Also LT's dichlor is 99% sodiumdichloro-s-triazinetrione dihhdrate with only 1% inert ingredients while All Clear's dichlor is 97% and 3%. Not sure if that makes a big difference but seems like it would be more pure to me.

I shop locally, at the Hot Springs dealer. They have very good chemicals. I feel that this is important with me and my family getting in the soup, I want good soup. I don't nickel and dime on this. Maybe parts but not my skin.

It starts out more pure initially, 2% purer but it has 7% less chlorine ... it is filler or something. I think that this would make it less pure ounce for ounce.

I have been using Meyer for some time now.  Also found them on Ebay.  We use the Leisure Time products and he has great prices.  I tend to order several things at once as the more you order, the better the shipping.

not only can I not find online dealers with cheap shipping to canada, but my local area does not have dichlor.  All that I seem to see is trichlor chlorine at local hot tub shops.  Even arctic brands trichlor chlorine, so I stick with bromine.

I always try to support my local dealer. Doc's site is good if you want to go online. I also found this site which has good prices for HotSpring items.

I agree with supporting my local dealer, but sometimes, an online deal is really nice.
