Title: Music solution
Post by: sledjunkie on November 22, 2006, 02:07:54 pm
In my spare time I've been thinking about what to do for music while I soak.

Here is the solution I came up with a couple of weeks ago.

I bought them for $20. My wife has an Ipod Nano which she doesn't use, so I figured I'd put it to good use.

Few reasons I like them

No wires
Access to volume, track, etc while you soak. Simply push button on the fly while they are still on your head.
Headphone style works better than earplug (or external speakers for that matter) to muffle out the sound of jets and focus on music sound quality.
When I get out then stay on my head while I dry myself off, add chemicals, and all the way until I enter the house.
Plan on using them for snowblowing driveway, and mowing the lawn as well..

Only item of concern is the fact they are not water proof.. But that is the risk I am going to take.
What I did was wrap the Ipod Nano with saran wrap, and then slide it in the headphone slot. i figured this should eliminate any problems with water damage.

So far I've been using them almost every night for the past 2 weeks without problems..

OK for yourself. Not so good for background music for a group.  :-?

That of course also depends on whether you have joined the ipod club. I realize I am rapidly headed for the minority crowd but I haven't got around to paying my dues for that club yet! ;)

Yes obviously it's a solo solution..

And as far as IPod. I couldn't agree with you more. I am not a fan at all of the Ipod's. My wife got it as a gift, and doesn't use it.

:-)

That is awesome.  I typically soak by myself and I am a huge Ipod fan.

Tell me more about the headphones.  Where did you get them?  What is the quality?

Item # 6270431

They are listed at $29.99 but I get a discount from them.

If you're wearing those, it would make it easy for a Ninja to sneak up on you and steal your beer.  A real Ninja could do it anyway, but those dammed headphones just invite trouble, in my opinion.

A true Ninja brother would not have to carry a 50 cal. rifle. So Ninja wanta be, When you want to enter our elite club and have the hair on your..... ooops sorry....have the hair on your man organs to become a TRUE Ninja brother. I will send you to a secret site and you will have to pass a test much like the secret test you had to pass to sell Hot Springs Tubs.  :-X

I didn't say I were a Ninja, although I am familiar with their ways, including the Touch of Deathness.  I even have the special wall-climbing boots, but I'm too fat to get more than 3' off the ground before I fall.

I only wish I had a .50 cal!  I only have the punly little .223 at the moment, and it is for when I'm in those occasional situations when I'm surrounded and cannot Death Touch all my enemies.

I would be honored to join your secret society as long as their are no gayful initiation rites of passage and I get to wear a cool costume like I do at my job:

Ah, one of the biggest mistakes you can make as a Ninja wanta be. You ate refried beans with your water tight suit on. I can see you have much learning to become a watertight Ninja.  And the clostest to gayfulness rites is you may have to expose yourself to relieve yourself in remote locations, then a brother may cast an longful eye, only to verify you are a brother. You never know nowdays. :-/

Alas, I am not a brother, simply a cracker. :-[

I would be derided.

You lost me with that last one, Old Great Ninja, but I am easily lost at times.

I bid thee all farewell!  I'm off to a birfday party, then to go do the Turkey Day family crap, and then to help my Ol' Pappy build a fire pit to cook his wild pigs in for the pennance and restitution of the heathern souls who work on Sunday.

Ya'll take care and be safeful.

You and me both.  At least you live somewhere where you could actually fire one of those without having every SWAT team in a 25 mile radius dispatched.

On the other hand, don't those .50 BMG rounds sell for a couple bucks each?
Wonder how easy it would be to reload for that.........???
A bit more powder than the 4 grains of Bullseye I use in my .45 acp loads, I suspect.

A Carpenter that worked on my house has one for sell. He showed me the damn thing and I could hardly lift it. He said the ammo was 2.00 a round.  This one was a S/W. I have a right to carry permit and I'm just now getting into some lets say interesting guns.  :)

I am going to be getting my permit soon.
I'm starting out with a small revolver though. I'll leave those big guys to you all.

Leave it to Kalifornia to do something like banning that rifle.  Like your typical criminal or gang banger (same thing, I guess) totes one of those around.

Pretty spendy ammo- still, I'd love the chance to fire off a few rounds, just for the fun of it.
This is one place where doing your own reloads could really save, but if you can afford $7.5K for the gun, I guess you could afford the ammo, too.

Smith and Wesson does make a .50 cal revolver, but not a .50 cal rifle. The .50 cal rifles fire the 50 BMG (Browning Machine Gun) round. The BMG compared to the the Smith revolver round is, no comparison:

S&W .500

To keep this relevant, a properly trained and equipped individual can take you out in your hot tub from over 2,000 yards away with a 50bmg.

Happy tubbing!

I use a MP-3 player in a ziplock bag and water resistant Sony headphones. The headphones have close to a 6' cord so not a big deal. I don't listen to music a lot out there but sometimes it's nice to soak and listen to music.

I have no comments on the bullets.  :D
