Title: TRIXIE'S TOP...ON or OFF?
Post by: Bama on November 18, 2006, 08:15:55 pm
I don't know what I should do...take my top off or leave it on?  My top is really large and heavy and not  easily managed.
What's all the fuss with  the top off of the spa while treating with dichlor?
I know there is a lot of talk about it, but what does it actually do to the top if it is left on during the cleaning cycle or while shocking?   I just want to shock my tub, not my top!

Er, I'd say that your....top.....is better off not getting the brunt of chemical exposure, but I dont see how the weight/size of the cover really matters. You have to open it once and close it once to use the tub or add stuff to it, so what does it matter if it stays open a little longer?

Hmmm, a favorite phrase on one of my other boards is....
This thread is worthless without PICS!!!!!
And I can't think of a better use than this thread.  Then we can see the REAL top. Unfortunately, if we do get pics, I am certain they will be withthe top ON...LOL

why is trixi's top so heavy?
is it waterlogged already. And i thought it takes a while before it becomes full of water.

Trixie's top is soooo heavy because it is larger than the average top!
Sometimes, I don't unveil the whole thing, because it is too heavy for me.
Trixie is a weakling, ok?  Only part of the top comes off when I am home alone.
It isn't until my husband comes home that the entire top comes off.

Sounds like your wife understands.  It's good to let it air out, because otherwise there are areas that would otherwise lack fresh air.

I have posted pics before and yes the top was on.  You may be able to find them on a previous post.

Trixie is getting a cover lifter, we just didn't like the one that was designed for our spa.  Going to get one from another source, still looking at them.
I have found a couple on two different websites, but not ready bite.
Got any suggestions?

bama,

as stated trixies top will deteriorate more rapidly with exposure to high chlorine levels if she leaves it on immediately after a dichlor shock. she'll have to replace her top more frequently if she doesn't leave it off for a while.

does trixie have a top lifter? i am not referring to her husband but a doohickey that makes it easier for ladies to lift their tops.

If you need a hand lifting your top completely off when your hubby isn't around I'd be more than happy to assist you.

Yeah, so much for being strong and independent! Though I'd not be real happy without a coverlifter, either.

Trixie, what did you not like about the lifter that your dealer had? There's lots available, and I'd get one ASAP as it'll definitely add to the enjoyment of your tub. Check rhtubs.com for good descriptions.

I have the CM 1 which is super simple, inexpensive, and still manageable for a small-ish person like me.......WHOLE lot better than nothing! There are some that require more room than others behind the tub, some that have hydraulic assist, and are SUPER easy to use.......If I had it all to do over again, I'd go hydraulic, since my cover is bigger and heavier than average. If I remember right, yours is a pretty big tub, so a bit more assistance could be really nice.
