It's raining here right now which is showing me a potential problem with the pad where I plan to put my tub. I thought it was perfectly flat with just a slight grade for drainage, but now that it's raining I can see a low spot where the water is collecting (top right corner of the pad in the picture if you were standing at the taped-off "steps" -- kinda hard to see, I know). At it's deepest I'd say it's less than 1/4" inch but obviously it's enough to collect water.
Should I be concerned about placing my tub there? Is that enough to cause settling of the structure in that spot thereby encouraging shell cracks? Sure hope not!
(as for my tape job of the tub outline, yes I'm just a little bit anxious to get the tub -- just trying to envision how it'll look! :))

Doesn't sound like it would be a problem to me if it is that shallow. But I am not an engineer!
Quite a drain you have next to the tub! Good place to dump the water I suppose.
Unless that is the entrance to your bomb shelter!

;D Very funny! That's actually a window well for our basement, and it has a large grate on it so we don't fall in it when we've been drinking! :D
Can anyone comment on the pad and if it's going to be okay?

I think you'll be fine, but I know nothing and don't even have my tub on concrete.... but mine is completely level, lol. :) I think its funny I'm not the only person that outlined their spa in tape, your lines are much straighter than mine were though.
BTW, do you ride a street bike too or just a track bike?
-
Keep in mind that once you put your hot tub down, the water won't be able to get underneath it.
Concrete is pourous. How long did it stay pooled up like that?
I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Sold my race bike when I quit racing and just have a street bike now, although it sees more time on the track at open track days than it does on the street... :)

You're right, the water doesn't stay there long at all once it stops raining. My fear isn't about water collecting there though, it's about the tub structure settling into that low spot and damaging the shell...

If it only puddles when it rains, you should be ok. :D

did your round off the edges of your slab?
i regret not doing that.
i guess thats for next time!
btw....i am no expert, but sounds like you
are not going to have a problem at all if it's
only "off" that small amount.

I'd say you'll be just fine. I can't imagine that the shifting of the shell by such a small amount would present any problems.
