Got our electrical finished today & took our first soak this evening. Ambient temp was about 75o w/ 70% humidity. Water was 102o. Felt good at first, but seemed too warm after about 10 min. It's odd how just a degree or two is such a noticeable difference. We'll try 101o tomorrow night.
Anyway, this is more of a polling type question just to see what everyone prefers.
What temps do you keep your tubs set?
I'm thinking a little cooler in the summer & warmer in the winter?
It also has me wondering how accurate are the onboard thermostats in general? Are they well-calibrated & right on the money or is there a few degrees variance between actual temp & what the thermostat reads? Out of curiosity, I ordered 2 floating thermometers just to see how accurate mine is & will let you know if there's any variance once they get here.

I keep mine at 102 in the winter and depending on the summer temps 100 to 101. My wife thinks it's just too warm at those temps and she wanted me to lower the temp this summer. I put it down to 98 and it was too cool to enjoy a hot soak and since she rarely goes in I put it back to 100 and enjoyed the soaks more.
Just remember, I believe Drewski says it best with - it's a hot tub!
And you're right, 1 degree does make a big difference!!

Once yo go over body temp., each degree is night and day.
Spring, fall and winter, I'm at 104 baby. Like it hot!

99-100 in the summer. Not sure about the winter yet as it has only been two month.

Those are pretty high temps. :-?
Outside air around here has been in the high 90s in the day, but since I got my spa in July, I can't go above 97 and that to me and my wife seems high. I'm sure when winter comes we will put it at 100 maybe. 8-)

Big time personal preference. I like mine at 102 and my wife is happier at 100. She spends a lot of time on the cool down seat in our Vanguard.
I keep mine at 100 for her, then let her go to the cool down and crank it up to get a few minutes of hot hot.
It is amazing how much difference one degree can make at these temps. You'll find what you like pretty quickly.

99-100 in the summer. 101-102 in March, April and May. We got in in March. If I get too warm, I get dizzy.

101 in winter
97-99 in summer (we've still been in the 90s in the evening some nights)

badval: glad you are enjoying your new tub.
We (my wife and I) are the same. Had it at 102 for the first week, but couldn't stay in for more than 20 min. We put it at 100, and are enjoying it just as much, but staying in for 30 min.
Now that fall had fallen on SoCal, nights are getting cooler, low 60's even. We find the cool down seat works better and are staying in longer.
Winter used to be that rainy season between summers, but now I'm thinking it's going to be Hot Tub Season!

It really depends on how long you soak for. At 101 I was in for 30 min and at the end I was getting pretty hot.
For a quick 15 min soak I bet 102 would be better. Outside temp last night while soaking was 57 degrees. This morning when I left for work it was 49 degrees.
During the winter I would imagine I'll have it set for 102.

Here's one for you...
I keep mine at 98 so we can enjoy as a family with the kids if we want. Anything above that with a 5 year old will bake them. When I am gogin to get in, I kick it to 102, and by the time I get changed into my swimwear choice or lack of swimwear choice, and make a drink, I am darn close to 102. Otherwise, I like the seat by the filter outlet and I get the nice hot stream and the wofe who likes it a little cooler, gets to sit in one of the other corners.

In summer I keep it at 98-99. In the winter we kepp it at 101-102. The hotter it is the less time yuo can stay in. Anything above 98.6 starts to heat you up internally by warming your blood. Some people had higher tolerances than others but need to be careful and try going up incrementally. If you feel dizzy or light headed get out and lower the temp or stay in a shorter time.

When you change temps for different people - "she gets out & I crank it up...", how long does it take to go from 99 - 102?
Does having all the pumps on make it heat a lot faster than just the recirculating pump?
From it's initial fill yesterday, water seemed to heat about 4 - 5o per hour, so that would be about 1o every 15 min or so. That would make it kind of a PITA to change for different people.
-
97-98 seems about perfect for this time of the yeasr, however, just like many mentioned, I imagine we will crank it up to 102-104 during the winter.

When it's really hot, it's at 99, but mostly at 100 this past summer. 101 is just too hot. This will be our first winter, but I imagine we'll set it around 102.

My Vanguard seems to heat up after draining the tub and filling really fast. It goes from cold tap water temperature to 98-99 in about 3 hours.
-
Fall, Winter & Spring: 101° F
Summer: Depending on current temp & humidity - 95° to 99° F
Right now, it's back up to 101° F and that's where it will stay until next summer. :)

lskarp,
How big of a heater does your tub have that will heat it 3-4 degrees in the time it takes to put on a suit and fix a drink?

I've never timed it, but with the heated water coming in, it already "feels" warmer, so even though I may not be at full temp, I get the effect of it. However, I'd say it doesn't take very long to go from 100 to 102. Of course, its hot here, so that helps. I'm sure it would be different with the cover off in a cold climate.

101 is a good temp, anything over 104 (Ie, UL1, UL2, etc....) you could cook neckbones and collard greens in there. HAHAHA ;D

I'm just coming out of the summer setting. I put it at 95 for August. As August was winding down, every week or so, I would up it a degree. We had it at 103 for most of the winter, but that is my choice. My duaghter likes it at 100, my wife is 101, but I use it the most so I set it for what I like ;D
IMy HS Grandee really heats up quick, so in the middle of February, my daughter can drop the temp, keep the cover open and get it where she wants. If she gets it back up to what I want, and that is a bi"if", I can be back in an hour later at 102.
