Title: How many hot tub owners does it take..
Post by: LtDan on May 01, 2007, 07:51:07 pm
To change a light bulb on the forum? (Blatantly stolen from another forum, but dammit I liked it). Actually, I only come here during the day and didn't know the light was out so this doesn't apply to me.

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"

Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid.

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp".

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct.

19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb forum.

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum.

36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty.

5 People to post pics of their own light bulbs.

7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.

4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's.

13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too".

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs".

1 to bring politics into the discussion by adding that George W. isn't the brightest bulb.

4 more to get into personal attacks over their political views.

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again

4 to post that it is their constitutional right to change a light bulb.

3 to argue that all light bulbs should be banned

1 moderator to lock the light bulb thread.

Now personally, I never liked my light- I always felt that my neighbors were watching me tubbin' anyway, and they didn't need any help.  Although green looks really cool when the tub is foamy, it looks like you're cooking in some kind of stew...

Lt Dan:
The only guy I think you may have forgotten is the boob who posts a new thread with the same question as soon as the original topic has been locked.  :)

There is the guy who types in all caps, and then there is the person who insists they are being yelled at by the guy typing in all caps.

Considering the debate over that "other" thread, it's pretty relevant to this board, at least.

1) I'll second that recommendation for compact fluorescents. I just replaced a ceiling can light in my kitchen with a compact fluorescent one - 65 watts down to 13. It's brighter than before, and will last longer. The only negative is that it needs about 60 seconds to warm up. We're going to replace the 3-bulb incandescent fixture with 4-6 compact fluorescents, and end up with more light than before on one incandescent bulb's worth of electricity.

2) I really like what manufacturers are doing with LEDs lately. I was at my local Hot Spring dealer a few days ago, and was amazed at all the different colors you can get in your spa from LEDs - without changing any bulbs. Some of the Hot Spring models have water features that light up too. It was too bright in the showroom to really see them work, but it looks really cool in the pictures. Plus, they'll never need to be replaced. I love progress!

Dan, why don't you just admit  that your really a salesman for lightbulbs.

It's people like Dan who give the light bulb industry a bad name.

How 'bout a poll, vote for your favorite:
Willy Fisterbottom
Phil McCrackin
Hugh Janus
Heywood Jablowme
Will Jablowme (Heywoods brother)
Dixie Normous
Ben Dover

I'm torn.

I think you overlooked the religious zealots to demand that the light bulb repent or it would NEVER change as well as the psychiatrist who say that it only takes the light bulb itself but that the bulb really has to WANT to change first...

I was playing up to the charecture and humor in the post. (ie being one of the 19 who reply to post questioning if it's relevant.)

Sorry for the confusion.

You forgot to ask the really important question.

That is -

Do lightbulbs actually put out light or do they suck in darkness?

 ;D   ;D   ;D   ;D
