had a few people over this weekend for a barbecue and some jerk shook up a bottle of beer and shot it at the people in the hot tub....next morning my hot tub was looking very very sad....i shocked it with 3 capfuls if mps...waited about 8 hours and added water clarifier (came with startup kit) ...its now tuesday and the hot tub looks 100% better....just not quite what is was prior....should i shock it again or just let the filter do its job?? i have the d1 chairman II...thanks

People can be SO inconsiderate. Add alcohol and it can get even worse. Sounds like you need more shock treatment to me. Not on the tub, but rather on the "A$$hole" who was spraying the beer...

Speaking of filters, since it was nasty and you got it back to nice, I would go ahead and rinse the filters. Let them have a fresh start too.
-
You're on the right track. I think you should pull the filters and give them a rinse off and make sure you keep your sanitzer level where it should be. Beer is a tough one because of the yeast. Be very vigilant for the next few days, and don't invite that jerk back.

If it was Bud or Miller beer don't worry about it. They're practicly water anyhow.
/many a beer spilled in my tub.

I spilled a martini in my spa, chased the olive around for hours. Finally caught in the skimmer basket. ::)

I don't get it? What's the problem?

Guests take a dip in beer pool
An Austrian holiday resort is offering guests the chance to swim in a pool containing 42,000 pints of beer.

The Starkenber Beer Myth resort located in and around the medieval castle of Starkenberger in Austria's Tyrol region has filled seven 13ft long pools with the beer.
The management claims that beer baths heal various skin diseases.
However, some guests are said to have enjoyed drinking their favourite brew while swimming in the pools.
Manager Markus Amann, 23, said: "I would rather swim than swallow, as we serve enough of a cold, fresh tapped beer on the bars next to the pools."

Beer in the tub...yea so? Happens all the time....LOL :P I clean mine with dichlor.

I"d check the pH..... Limes are rather acidic.
-
Maybe change the water?

Doc beat me to it.. Some baking soda should help neutralize the lime!
Actually this is just an excuse to complete my 300th post!

Rayman, Nice one eh

Gee I often drink beer in my hottub. What was the problem again? If the water looks crummy I drain and refill. After guests use the spa this procedure is almost axiomatic. Why screw around?
As for the quip about American beer, I am a beer snob and feel qualified to comment that there are some mighty fine beers brewed in N. America. I like very hoppy, bitter ales and if you can get it, try Rogue River Brutal Bitter. Another favorite of mine is Liberty Ale but Anchor Steam. These are both world class beers, albeit not in the mainstream. There are others. Dale's Pale Ale from Colorado. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale from California. Shipyard Pale Ale from Maine. I could name more that are worth a try. So many beers, so little time.
Regards,
Bill

As for the quip about American beer,

Just kidding, you can pee in the tub

Sorry rayman but I happen to believe that Yuengling (America's oldest brewery) happens to put out some very good American beers. I especially enjoy the lager and would suggest you try one if you haven't done so already. 8-)

Beer is the devil's elixir and leads to sinful acts.

While Yuengling is fine and is "America's oldest brewery" (1829) it is not North America's oldest Brewery that belongs to Molson's (1786).

Okay, I'll give the North American title to Molson's, no problem. I'm just suggesting that Yuengling is a very good product made in the USA. I certainly respect the beers from our neighbors to the north, especially my favorite Canadian beer LaBatts, however I take exception to the general trashing of US beer products which you seem to be doing.

A full apology is in order and given, I was only using stereotyping as a form of humour.
