Alright...I've been keeping tabs on the electric bill since the tub came, and even my father has had his serious doubts on how much it would be affected by the added electrical drain...
I know I posted a month or so ago, but here we go...starting with December's bill-
12/29 05 1,184KWH $116.84 actual
1/30/06 1,172KWH $116.09 estimated
2/28/06 1,041KWH $112.82 actual
3/29/06 1,206KWH $130.18 estimated
4/28/06 1,030KWH $112.16 actual
5/30/06 963KWH $110.98 estimated
I'm still amazed, as is my father. I don't think he believes me when I tell him "yes, it's full, yes it's hot, and yes we use it". I think he'll be the next in my family to get one, since he's had a hip replaced, shoulder surgery, a broken ankle a couple years back (which is why you should NOT over apply the front brake on a bicycle, tyvm), his OTHER shoulder in need of surgery, a bad knee....and his wife's got a hairline fracture in HER knee, with no clue how it happened.....YIKES...
If I could afford to buy them a nice tub, I'd do it in a heartbeat...

Our first electric bill after having the hot tub for a few weeks arrived.........we have a $6 credit. Not sure exactly what happened here!!!!

You obviously don't live in Texas with a low bill like that!

I'm hoping there wasn't such a HUGE difference that they thought the meter was broken so they didn't do a reading this time! We have to call them before we get hit with a real whopper of a bill next month! Between the air conditioner and the spa, we have definitely used more electricity in the last month than we have all year. With increased energy costs, it is sure to be way more than last year at this time!

Yes, but what was your bill BEFORE the tub?
I'm still waiting for my first bill. This past week when I noticed the water getting cloudy, I decided to increase my filter run time from 30 minutes four times a day, to 60 minutes four times a day. It has really made a big difference--water looks beautiful. I'm wondering what a drain that is on my electricity bill, though.

I just got our first complete monthly bill after our new tub was installed. We used 1003 KWhrs for 30 days. Just to base it on last years bill at this time (before TUB) we increased to 33/day verses last year @ 24/day. Of course the weather was not exactly the same so just an estimate. To further complicate the comparison, mid month, our electric people converted us from the old "spinning CD" type to a new digital meter that they can read by driveby. We pay about .10/kwh plus other BS fees. Total this month was $124 :)

Tub was installed 3/31 of this year, so pretty much any bill prior to April's bill is pre-tub. We've only been in this house since the middle of last August, so I don't have a full year's worth of past bills to compare with, but I still don't "get" October's bill of $29 (less than $50 for electric AND gas for the month).... ??? Wish we could repeat THAT one all year round!!

Just one month of a bill that like would be good news :) I am dreading next months, new tub + central air running all month. Hopefully it won't be as high as the oil bill this past winter.
