I'm sure I'm the only one that follows this, but over at "that other" site that "rates" spas, as of this morning, the ENTIRE Watkins line has dissapeared from the ratings page.
-
Hmmm? That explains things :)

What site is that? ???

The check's in the mail.
I guess they're not going to pay extortion anymore. The NSF approval is much more important anyway.

One thing makes me scratch my head about those ratings. They have a 5-star and a 2-star rating but nothing else. Whether you agree with it or not, I understand why some may pay for the 5-star rating and I can understand why some may choose not to pay for a rating at all. However, I see Artesian, D1, LA Spas and Coleman on there as 2-stars and to me I'd either pay for the 5-star or I'd skip it alltogether. Are they paying to say you're not up to par with the 5-star companies? Maybe if they were a bargain brand I might see it but I'd expect those companies to think of themselves as premium spa companies so why pay for a lesser rating, especially with a few of the brands up there with 5-stars? Am I missing something here?

Watkins never paid, directly. In the past, the link taking you to their site went through a third party, online advertising agency (like the banner ads at the top of this page). The site probably got froom 5 to 25 cents for each click on the link.
-
Only the 5 stars are paid for......
Personally, I'd like to see all the companies listed under 2 stars demand that their name be removed. I think that they could demand either their name be removed, or their name be linked directly to their web site. Otherwise the site is in violation of copyright laws

That's one way to loose the 5 star rating.

It's not the site you might think. (Lying deranged Jimbo''s site of chuckles,) but if you were to google hot tub ratings, you'd find it.

I'm new to this forum, so I'm not sure if salesdvl really works for LA Spas, but his NSF remark is way off.
Someone asked what NSF stands for. NSF stands for the National Sanitation Foundation. Hot Spring is the only hot tub to receive a certification from the NSF. This is a pretty big deal.

I KNEW IT!! He stole the matching clothing everyone was wearing AND the name tag when he was in the LA Spas booth at the aqua show........
but his NSF remark is way off.
Actually, it was one of the more funny comments made on the subject ;D
Someone asked what NSF stands for. NSF stands for the National Sanitation Foundation.
Why do I get checks back from the bank stamped from the National Sanitation Foundation if they don't clear?
DUDE! IT'S A JOKE
Might I suggest, being new, hang out a bit to get a jist of what's going on.
-
And to add just a bit, it's only a big deal to HS dealers. It is pure marketing. All hot tubs filter water and with proper chemical treatment keep water clean, sooooo, I'll stick with Non Sufficient Funds.

Doc, be gentle with new people. For someone that makes their money off hot tub consumers, including people from this forum, I would not expect you to be so rude to people that could be potential customers. How is this new attitude working for you? Do you think he will want to get supplies from you? ;) ::)

Uhhhh.......Sundance MicroClean filters have had NSF certification for years....just so you know :-*

Uhhh...and now they don't. Go to NSF web site to verify.

I think he/she meant to say the first "spa" to have the NSF certification, not just the filter. ;)

Looks like the check cleared, as they're back to 5 stars now.

Told you it was in the mail!
The people must have seen it as they are FLOCKING into the stores at this very minute!

Yes, here too, amazing how important that 5* internet rating is, I mean EVERY customer asks me about it! Oh, wait, I mean NO customer has EVER asked me about it.

This is obviously the begining of the end for Hotsprings.
Sure. ETL and NSF all are well and good. (Not to mention they won the John Holmes award too) But loosing this rating, well I don't think they'll be able to recover from this.
-

I think the NSF would beg to differ. They don't just make a living trying to make sure products are safe for the consumer just for marketing purposes. Sure, Hot Spring is going to use it in marketing. ANY manufacturer would. And I don't blame them one bit. Will every customer lock onto it? No. Will it be a deciding factor for all of them? Probably not. It is, however, one more feather in the cap to tell the whole story and why Hot Spring is number one.
