Title: HS product for cleaning/conditioning cover
Post by: Tatooed_Lady on March 21, 2006, 03:40:35 pm
I see Hot Spring has a cover protectant available...
"FreshWater® Cover Shield" In real life, does anyone know how it compares to 303?

I've never used any 303 but it seems most folks on here swear by it.  I just use the Cover Shield on the spas on my deck every so often and it seems to do a good job.

I am using the "FreshWater Cover Shield"; I ran out though and until I bought some more, I used Armor All....stuff I use inside my car.....worked just as well, if you ask me.

Armor All will make it look just as nice. The only issue will be the Armor All will cause long term cracking just like you see on the dashborads of people's cars that use it.

I've been telling this to people for the past few years. Twice I've done so only to find out the customer owned a car detailing service and they laugh and say "I know all about it and it's the last thing I would ever use".

Wow...you learn something new everyday around here.....
Peachy --------------> stop using Armor All and go back to the Cover Shield or 303, which I've never heard of, but will check into.... :-)

Well,  I contacted Armor-All and specifically asked about the rumors that  long term use can cause damage,  or if they ever changed thier formula,  or if this was all urban legend. I am sure they are aware of what folks have been saying about thier product, and got this anwser:

Thank you for contacting us about Armor All Protectant - Original. We always appreciate hearing from our consumers.

ARMOR ALL Protectant is a water based silicone emulsion specifically designed to protect and beautify polymeric materials such as rubber, plastic, vinyl and leather. The protectant fights deterioration caused by ozone, oxidation and ultra-violet radiation.

While we are confident that ARMOR ALL Protectant is both safe and effective, we are also aware that nothing can prevent the eventual failure of polymeric materials. Deterioration of these materials can start within one year of service. The rate of this deterioration is dependent upon many factors, including exposure to the elements, the amount of care given to the surface, and the original quality of the material. I hope this information answers your concerns and that you will continue to use ARMOR ALL with confidence.

Again, thank you for contacting us.

Meh.  :-/

When I was younger I drove a DeLorean sports car.  I was very proud to drive it and lovingly maintained it.  Not knowing any better, I treated the padded dashboard and seats with Armor All.  Both of them begin showing horrendous cracks within weeks.

I have never used that hideous concoction again.

DeLorean...bah. The flux capacitor on those things were always  failing.  ;)

I've used Armorall on my vinyl pool liner for 15 years.   The installer that installed the liner advised that I put  Armorall on all vinyl above the water line each spring and fall.  We have done this and the liner looks and feels like new to this day.

It's working right now.  I just left 1,000,000 BC this morning and will return to 1985 this afternoon.

This 303 sounds great. Would anyone happen to know if any of the big retailers on the west coast of Canada carry it? I have a WalMart, Home Depot here.

I'm very intimate with Raquel but I don't know Rachel.  Would you be interested in someone more hirsute, perhaps Ta or Sa?

TMJ, I believe rhtubs.com carries it...I'm sure there are other online outlets for 303, also.

Chaka, you drove a DeLorean? No kidding....One of our neighbors used to have one. Far as I recall, it was sitting in their driveway 95% of the time....guess they didn't trust the kidlets to drive it.....gee, wonder why?  ???
