No. They think that they are the only ones in the world and everybody lives in a "state". ;) But we love them anyway.
1) Many of us Americans think of people from the Dakotas, Minnesota and Montana to practically be Canadians anyway.
2) "State" and "Province" aren't that different except that state is of Latin derivation and means "Land where we kicked out the King".
3) How can you make fun of us when you have places with names like "Moose Jaw" and "Saskatoon"? Did you guys hire Soupy Sales and Jerry Lewis to name your towns? ;)
-
Unless my geography fails me, isn't Canada in North America? Â So doesn't that make folks in Canada, Americans, too?
You gotta love em.

I'll play nice. Â (I have been to Canada: Halifax, Prince Edward Island, Rimouski, Montreal, Quebec. Â We stayed in youth hostels on a road trip in the early 70's. Â PEI was terrific, and to Vancouver on a different road trip). Â
Yes, Tman the Black Hills are an exception in SD. Â I actually had a good time in the Badlands, too.
To anyone else's part of the country I may offend, I had a good time there too.

Growing up in upstate NY and going to school just accross the border (Canton/Potsdam area, NY) from our Northerly friends I've always appreciated the fact that it's nice to have a close cousin next door. When I was younger we would cross over from time to time to get some beer and maybe check out a few of the bars (the type with entertainment usually, another area beside beer where you seemed to excel). However, while we have some fun city names down here I was always struck with some of the names up city North and as a whole I'm not sure we compete in this area well.

I'm 36 and live in San Diego, CA.
I used to live in Normal, IL. When I moved to San Diego, my first apartment was on Normal Street. Just down the street was the Lesbian, Gay & Transgendered Center. Now, that's all OK with me, but I thought it was funny that it's on Normal Street.
Here's a list of funny city names: http://www.keepersoflists.org/?lid=3864 Mostly USA, but some others.

"As far as me saying it's not arrogance if you can back it up. My whole life I have been titled as cocky, arrogant, or whatever else you want to call it. I call it self confidence and it has gotten this 24 yr old pretty far in life. I'm part owner of a million dollar business that has been growing ever since I started w/ them. So what I'm trying to say is that my "arrogance" comes from me working my a$$ off my whole life to get what I wanted. I came from a very poor family growing up. I will do whatever it takes, so I will never have to live like that again. Even if it means coming off as arrogant.

03fxdwg, I have to say this, "just because"....
I got in trouble with a guy once that LIVED by the "if I have to explain, you wouldn't understand" mentality.....simply because of my sticker on my bike that said "if I have to understand, don't bother explaining" ;)
btw, anyone wanna buy a Harley? :D
-
I actually prefer...
It says "ride free" NOT "free ride!!" LOL, but that one gets me in lots of trouble... hehe
what kind of harley are you selling? any why? please dont leave us sister!!

I know a guy that has to use his bike to pick up women...too bad his wife doesn't know that. ;)
Mine's an '02 Sporty, 1200 custom. Hubby's got a 2000 Night Train, customized. We don't have time in summer, we drive dump trucks for a living. Turns out that work takes up most of our summer. :-[ Winter's open though...lol....but no snow!

Greetings from above the Mighty Mackinac Bridge in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan!! Surrounded by Lake Superior to the north, Lake Michigan to the east and south, Lake Huron to the south and east and the Menominee River on the southern border of Wisconsin. No matter where you are in Michigan, you are no more than 6 miles (or something like that) from a body of water. The Upper Peninsula or U.P. as it's called was featured as a top 10 WORLD destination spot last year; not too shabby. Come and see for yourself. Oh, 32 BTW.

I am soooo sick of winter! I too live in Denver. :o
-
They had to cancel the Global Warming meeting...due to weather ;D ;D. Â I would love to get in my tub, but it won't be delivered again until Tuesday. Â That is if I can finish chipping away at the ice so they can make my pad bigger and then clear all the new snow and ice from in front of my gate. Â But, on the bright side Kathy Sabine says it might not snow this week! Â :)
-
I wonder what the Global Warming beleivers have to say about that?! :)
It is not so much of believing whether or not it is happening so much as it is believing that it is a human creation.
-
Well said Anne. There is no disputing the evidence that it is happening. How much are humans accelerating it? :(
Since I got my tub in Oct, I have basically only had cold weather soaks (northern Canada). I am curious what my soaks will be like in spring and summer? :-?

50. Sigh.
