OK, a serious question here...So many of you are passionate football fans...Just how crazy do you get?
My husband gets so upset that we can't watch the games with him anymore...Last night he kept going outside to cool off. I had a friend over early in the game and we were outside looking at the hot tub...she heard him yelling from inside the house and was shocked! His whole personality changes..I was embarrassed! :o
So we watched the game last night in different rooms.... :(
I am afraid he is going to have a heart attack :-/...I have never seen him this upset over real life events...I can't believe anyone else gets this nuts...and if any of you do...how to you come back to earth?
He was even too wired to go out into the tub last night... :-/
I'm thinkin next week I may slip him a sedative in his wine...
Or maybe I'll take the sedative and lock him out of the house! ;D

Getting excited over the game is part of the experience and enjoyment of the game. I have outburts....loud outbursts, but after a few days, I'm fine.
Your husband will be fine around Feb 10. :)
Actually, if I do get "that upset" a walk helps, or a beer, or other husbandly duites can help aliverate the tension. :)

I get less that way over pro sports each year. Too many Terrel Owens types, or teams and players moving around. But I still get up for the college high's, but I won't feel too bad if they lose tonight unless the officials take it away.

Hey I get excited and jump around and call the refs a few nasty things, but this is way beyond all that...and I am thinking it is really not healthy. Even my kids think he is over the top! That is one reason that I love the college games...he can actually watch and enjoy the Football of it...not the HIS team thing.
College is real...the pros are more and more like my soaps! :o oops.

I have been a HUGE football fan since I was 11. Sat/Sun is always a balanacing act between family/work/football. However, I keep man sanity while watching but do have friends who seem to need medication while watching. About 10 yrs ago I was living in a condo and every Satruday Nortre Dame was on TV and someone in the complex would scream with excitement every time they scored on a big play so that EVERYONE within 20 miles would hear. It was both hilarious and a bit disturbing. My wife and I always wondered who it was and why they had to be such an idiot. Then Notre Dame played Boston College one fateful Saturday and on the last play of the game the underdog Boston College kicked an unlikely field goal to win the game. I couldn't help myself, I opened my slider and screamed "Yesssssssss" as loud as I could.

I don't get excited. My avocations is being a high school football official. No matter what the situation, who's winning or losing, if it's homecoming, play-offs, whatever, the crew has to keep our composure. We, the crew, don't care who wins and are probably the only ones in the entire stadium who impartially watch the game. So I guess that rubs off while watching a game on TV. When I do get a chance to go to a game that I'm not 'working' I watch the officials and may not know the score. (During a game I am working I seldom know the score).
I, too, wonder about fans who get so excited that they lose control. But I've seen it happen from peewee football up to high school. As many of you may know it's not the players or coaches who are the most 'volitale', but mom and dad. The worst fan I ever witnessed was a mom at a peewee game and 'her' team was winning 36-0. All we could do was shake our heads in pity for her. As far as fans who are true 'fanatics', if they are enjoying themselves and are harmless, let them have a good time.

I am very grateful that my husband behaves himself very well at my son's highschool games...He definately would not be allowed to go if he acted like he does over the EAgles. He is so extreme that neighbors invited us over to enjoy the game at their house..and he said he couldn't go because he knew he couldn't act civil...
This is the only time I see him lose it completely...
When the Eagles lost the Superbowl, I thought he was going to go into a depression...
Of course some folks would think my sister and I had lost a few brain cells that year...My father, and uncles were all true Eagles fans and have all passed away. That year we decorated the cemetary with Eagles flags...on each grave marker!

I'm going to have to admit that this is a weak point in my personality. :-[ I have gotten better over the years. But for years I would just make a a$$ of myself. I have an A+ personality and we can't help it. Its in our gene's. I did something during a game once that to this day I have to hear about. I have controlled all of that now. I tell my wife in advance of a big game. She now puts the dogs away, locks the guns in the safe,takes the keys from me, and no close friends that we care about are invited to our house during the game. ::) Admit girls, you love us just the way we are, passionate!

Bonibelle - we're Giants fans (I like Oakland too....I know....they're horrible) and believe me - there were a lot of loud outbursts going on in my house yesterday! My father came over and between him and my husband (both die hard Giants fans, just like your husband with the Eagles) yelling at the refs and Eli Manning, I couldn't hear myself think.
Good luck next week....my house will be a lot quieter than yours! :'(
I have to say that I'm jealous b/c I wish the Giants were still in it!! Good luck!

No Bohms, I am jealous...as much as I love the EAgles and enjoy this almost unbelievable season, I can't deal with my husband..
It isn't fun...I dread next week...Heck, if I thought there were tickets, I would almost consider shipping him to New Orleans! :o
My cousin had the right idea..he just kept text messaging his thoughts during the game. ;)

My favorite out of control fan story. This was 8th grade girls catholic school basketball. It was the end of the year tournament. 6 schools were all playing at the same nuetral site and all their regular season records were the same. The school has a stage on one side and fan seating on the other side. There were games going on all day. During our game, a guy came in and sat down late. It was obvious that he has there for the next game. He sat quietly, clapping politely for any good play which ever side made it. One father got real upset that he was cheering for the other team on their side and verbally tore into this guy. The priest of the other school heard it and tried to calm things down. The irate guy lit into the priest with a stream of cussing that embarrased the priest to turning away. The rest of the crowd shut the guy up eventually.

My wife and I both yell, sometimes quite loudly, during football games. Our neighbors are also football fans, so I would expect they don't think anything of it.
However, the other sport we watch is Formula 1 racing. Many of these races are in Europe, so they are on live at 5 am Sunday mornings here in California. I always wonder what my neighbors think when they hear us yelling & cheering at that hour. (Go Alonso!)

Keep in mind that I am not a fan of either Miami or OSU however I recall many people thinking that Miami got jobbed by the officials with a phantom pass interference call in the end zone late in the game that enabled OSU to win. As I said I'm not a fan of either team but I did think at the time and still believe it was a bad call by the official.

Last night I was jumping up and down right at the first play of the game but was jumping for joy the rest of the way been a Gators fan since I knew how to throw a ball

What's the deal with San Dieago selling Tickets to only So CA residents?
I heard this a.m. that if you don't have a SO CA address, you wont get tickets. If you have already purchased them, you order has been cancelled.
SO CAL afraid of us New England Fans comming to town?
Honestly though, that's B.S.

But as far as the ticket sales go, A few other teams have done that as well. I think I heard Chicago has a similliar practice for the playoffs.
A spokesperson for the Staduium said they were restricting tickets sales to fill the stadium up with as many Charger fans as possible. Personaly I think it's a BS policy and wish the NFL would step in. If the chargers want to restrict tickets to So Ca, I think they should get out of the NATIONAL Fooball League and only play in the Southern CA foot ball League.

It's all just a show. Real fans sit and watch the game for what it is....not spend 6 hrs in hair and make-up, 12 hrs in a bar pregame, and get up and scream after EVERY play. The signs of having a lack of intelligence are quite aparent.
No clown drenched in skulls intimidates me. When I happen to encounter that type, I tell them how cute they look. :-*

but I think that Raiders fan is cool too..! those fans are participators, not just spectators and there's nothing wrong with that...
