Title: Leaving J385 home alone
Post by: modman on December 16, 2005, 02:18:55 pm
Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on this board for a couple of months now and after reading all the fine advice and tips here finally bought and installed a new J385.  So far everything is great and the family loves it.

Now for my question.  We'll be away for about 10 days at X-mas without anyone to pour the needed chemicals into the tub.  Anyone have some advice as to what I should do?  My initial plan is to make sure the pH is good, add a bunch of shock and hope for the best.  Any other ideas?

Thanks

IF the tub is clean and sanitized before you leave, and no one uses it, and it filters (either on a circ pump or a timer) you should be fine.

Might want to clean the filters too.

I agree with the Drew.

If you use Dichlor, put in a shock before you go, and check it when you return.

For folks who are going to be away longer than ten days, lowering the water temp can help a lot: chlorine will stay is water that is 80 degrees much longer than it will stay in 102 degree water.
