Title: Top Off?
Post by: velocity23 on October 29, 2005, 07:39:13 am
How often do you guys have to top off your tub? it seems to sneak up on me...the level looks fine then the next time I look its about 1 1/2 inches low. I know it doesn't happen over night. Is this normal. I've been under the tub and there does not seem to be any leaks. I have a 2005 SD Optima temp @ 102 and it is outside.
Thanks,
Howie

I usually have to add a couple of inches every 2 to 3 weeks.  I lose a lot due to 'splashing' as I've got two kids that like to treat it as a pool.   :)

During winter, I add weekly.  Summer, every three to four weeks.

2005 SD Optima temp @ 96-99 degrees, inside. I add about 1- 1 1/2 " every other week, part of the routine. Not sure about winter yet, as this is our first with the tub.

Now I have to drag out a hose, connect it to the outside facet, purge out old water, then drag it into the room from the outside door. Adds quite a bit of time to my weekly maintenance. This is going to suck come February!

Someday when I add a water tap located right in the spa room; I'll probably top it off every week.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. Glad to see its not just me. I figured the water just evaporated but you know I am a little OCD.

Just to rule out a problem I had, run all your pumps and open the front skirt and look for leaks.  When I had pump 1 replaced, the tech didn't tighten things down enough. The fixture only leaked when pump #1 was run on high. I could see the water puddling inside the tub when that happened.

I top off using a five gallon bucket filled from my kitchen sink during the winter.  It is one of the reasons I fill every week.  I don't have to add too much at once.

Thanks, that'a an excellant idea. I have one of those restaurant style deep sinks in my garage, I'll give it a try.
