Start with the easy stuff: clean your filter, or replace it if it is over three years old.

Give me details: did you clean it with a 'filter cleaner' of some kind, replace it with new or just rinse it?

Next step is check the temp sensor - is it loose or out of place?

Stick-- Where do you live? Is your spa full foam? It could just be related to ambient temp. Especially if you don't use the spa as often during the summer.

To eliminate the filter issue, run your system for an hour or two without the filter.  This will elimnate any potential filter issue.

This is a typical problem in the summer months with a well insulated spa.  With the summer months behind us now and if this was the root cause, the problem should go away.  If OH continues to vent your cover or open your air controls to disapate heat.  Be sure to reverse any cooling effect as the cold weather sets in.

Most likely you have oil in the filter and like JMcD said you can tell this by running the spa without the filters for a bit.

If that isn't it then it could be a motor overheat issue or a bad sensor.

3 years ago balboa had a bunch of sensors that where failing.

In the last 2 years some of the motor suppliers where getting their windings from overseas and found that they where getting less and less copper in the windings thereby causing the motors to run hot. This effected many spa manufactures....

Without knowing more detail, can't help more than this.

If you have high scale issues with your water you need to soak your filter in a 5 gallon bucket of water with a pint or 2 of muriatic acid. If you see some fizzing action that is scale being removed from filter. If you continue having overheat issues itis probably a temp sensor or overheating due to summer temperatures.

Well,
Not ever hearing of the "riptide" brand I have no idea whether they use a flow switch or pressure switch but with the info given I would have to guess your problem is with which ever you have.....

If it is a pressure switch you might be able to bypass it and test it.

thanks fo rall your ideas. Come to find out that i ended up having a bad low gear in circulation pump.

Since it was a bad low gear it was turning on but never circulated the water which inturn cause the LF which inturn caused the over heating or the cooling of the water.

So now i am waiting for the new pump to arrive so it can be changed out. I pray this fixes all my headaches
