I thought after 25 posts that I would not be a newbie anymore! ;). At what number of posts does one "graduate" to the higher ranks? Could someone post a list of the rankings? Who amoung us is in the top 10?

Stars mean nothing. Look at me. I'm an ultimate member. The only thing it signifies is I've the time to post random brain syapsis to a group of strangers.
Do not equate Stars to "expertise"
Anyway click on the "Members Icon" across the to of this page (Right under your new messages banner) and you ll find out more about post counts and such
-
Yep, strictly by post count.
Newbies go up to 50.
Go into the members list, and sort by post count. That should answer most of your questions on member demographics.

The stars represent how smart you are :)
Ok, I was just kidding.
I would have to go into the admin section and see what I have the levels set to. Its totally arbitrary. When Spaman was here ,I always put full member 100 posts above whatever he had.

1 star- Newbie
2 stars- Neophyte
3 stars- Minion
4 stars- Omniscient

In that case there are not enough stars in the Universe for me. ;) ;D

Thanks for the info! Only 22 more posts to go! LOL.

1 star- Newbie
2 stars- Neophyte
3 stars- Minion
4 stars- Omniscient

Drewster,

I'm sorry, I'm just posting to see how smart I am.
-
I suppose you could ask another dozen and a half pointless questions on the main forum as a way to artificially boost your post count.
But then you'd be inclined to continue to get to 100, and so on. Goody.

Where in South Dakota are you. i went to college in Yankton, when YC wasn't a minimum security prison (though it should have been then too).
Did my student teaching on the Pine Ridge reservation, Porcupine, SD. But I'm not a teacher now.

Brewman,
I really didn't think my posts were offending anyone. I didn't think the posts were pointless, silly questions either. I am sorry if you feel otherwise.
-
I think many of us noticed that you seemed concerned about post counts, star-ratings, and member levels... got the info... and then went out and filled up the board. Most of the questions in your new threads have been asked and answered several times. There are many similar threads, each with several pages of posts in the last year. If you are after the information and not post count, perhaps your time would be better spent reading the forum archives.
Just remember, you are meeting a new group of friends. Take it slow.
That said... Welcome! :)

There is nothing wrong with being a post w hore. Every board needs one.

Offended, not even close. Annoying and somewhat pointless, yes.
Why do you need to know how many soaks I've had? Like I keep track.... ::)
I personally don't care what you post, but much as you "can post whatever you want", I can respond however I want. So there.

iI was asking you questions to have you answer to get your post count up. :) That's all. I could care less about stars.
just trying to help you out. ;)

At least he hasn't asked us what our body fat pecentage is........yet

I may have said that I was posting to get my count up, but I was JOKING! Please guys, lighten up. I have had 2 hot tubs for over 15 years, did not get full use or enjoyment out of them (that was my fault), I probably did not use them 100 times total. The last one started having problems with it, and I was offered a good trade, so I just traded it in for a newer, smaller model. I am just enthusiastic all over again, and appear obsessively posting.
This probably accounts for my seeminbly senseless questions (which to me were genuinely asked and not done to be as someone delicately put it, a "POST HORE"). The truth of the matter is, the most likely in a short period of time, I will have have cooled my jets (pun intended) about my hot tub and this forum and go back to lurking.
And as long as you are all enjoying bashing me, I do have a question to Repeat_Offender. I really did not want to ask him, but I can't resist the challenge.
What is YOUR percentage of body fat?

Why lurk? you've got a lot of experince and can contribute and add a lot of value.
Be honest, be authentic, laugh at your self, and be able to be wrong, and you'll have a ball in here. :)

Drewster,
Ok. Thanks. I just wanted to start some fun topics. No post building was intended.
No doubt all the technical topics (water quality, ozone, what you like about tubs, what you dont like, how to pick a tub, yada, yada, yada) have been discussed to death dozens , if not hundreds of times. The oldtimers here really don't have to ask the a lot of technical questions, because they already know the answers (not that they know ALL of the answers) after being here so long.
If it weren't for the new buyers, newbies to this board, and people of those sort, this forum would become dull very soon. Other then new models coming out every year to discuss, what would you really talk about day after day, if some new buyer did not have a question, silly or not, or some silly poll (me) were not posted? ::)
It is the newbies that make a forum interesting to some extent, dont you agree?
One of the best sections of this forum, in my opinion is cooltoys "Picture of the day! Even after being here only a week, I look forward to seeing his pics posted.
I like the silly stuff as well as the technical stuff. That is just me. I certainly can not contribute technically to much of this stuff at this point, so all I can contribute is my humor and enthusiasm.
Hope this helps you folks understand me a little better.
I do want to stay, and I don't want to run away with my "dollies."
P.S. I see the moderators removed a thread about all of this. I wonder what regulations it violated?

PArticpate and don't get ruffled. Don't quit one day and delete all your posts.
Trust me, if you are out of line, some one will in no uncertain terms tell you. But the only opion about that that matters is Wm. Everybody else, new, old, dealer, user, stars or no, have the same say.
Otherwise, assume the best.
now, about those flashlights....

on the topic of member levels, or whatever, I'll just note that I find it odd that I get 5 stars, and ultimate members get 4. I suppose 4 gold stars is still better than 5 silver, but it is weird. Never had a reason to think about it till this thread...... :-?

Hmm, must be another feature of the new version. I haven't looked at that yet.

Post whore.
Hmm.
I like it.
