Post by: pjjp21 on September 24, 2005, 07:32:33 pm
hi,

I have an Emerald Spa and have had it for about 1 1/2 yrs..the underside of the cover(behind the netting) the plastic covering the foam is torn in 4 places.  service guy told me to take out the foam, recover with plastic and seal with gaffers tape..any comments?

thanks
john

use clear packing/ packaging tape over the holes.

DUCT TAPE, The "Handymans Secret Weapon" now comes in Clear, which is claimed to be 6x stronger and stands up much better than the grey.  Duct Tape would be a better, more permanent solution than packing tape.  First put some  clear silicone on the tears to seal out moisture and then apply the clear duct tape.
Highly recommended by Red Green!

If the foam has soaked up water you will need to take them out and let them dry.  Then put them back into your repaired plastic.  If they have started to sag any, flip them over so the "mound" is up. This will help against puddling.
