Sunspot 798/808 flared twice more yesterday, and at least one of the X-class explosions propelled a coronal mass ejection (CME) toward Earth. NOAA forecasters estimate a 70% chance of severe geomagnetic activity when the CME arrives--perhaps tonight, Sept. 14-15. Sky watchers at all latitudes should be alert for auroras.
Auroras are great to see from a hot tub.

I will be watching for them I have seen them many times when I have worked this time of year in northern Maine. They are awsome. Almost always see them the first week of Oct. up there. I won't be there this year so a chance to see them in NY and from my tub, good deal !

I've only seen them twice in Ohio. We are at 38 degrees N I believe.
This picture was from 20 miles east in Oct of 2004 if I remember right.

I don't know much about auroras, longitude, latitude, but will I be able to see them in Florida?

Its less likely the farther south you are, but for Florida it is usually a once in a lifetime event, and you have to be away from bright city lights. Here in Ohio, for one out of every 25 alerts do we see anything.

We had a great view of them in the upper Hudson Valley last October also. They are a sight to see. :)

Well pretty good chance HF communication will be crappy to non-exsistent. Hopefully I won't need to use it tonight. Sometimes I hate it when I have to monitor flights all over the world. Oh well - only 4hrs and 15 min left of work.

Sorry it's hard to get excited here in Northern Minnesota where we see them all the time.

Could not see them last night here even if they were out there. Way too cloudy. :( Sat in the tub anyway. Lucky you to live in Nothern Minn. (I loved N. Maine) Lots of moose there in Minn.?
Update on diabetes. I started checking levels yesterday AM and last night. Checked before I got in tub and half hour after. Went down 2 pts. It was still down 2 pts. this AM. Will keep checking and update after 1 week.

Help me understand - is "went down 2pts." a desirable thing or not?

Yes a good thing. I would like it around 90-100 Right now it is 179. I am on some medication and they talk about insulin. I am curious if I use the spa every day (At least try to) if it really does help it come down. It is not a scientific study by any means but if it works for me it may help someone else. I am trying to keep my diet on track and exercise the same every day so as to keep everything the same.
