Title: soaped
Post by: txwillie on July 29, 2005, 11:46:39 am
the tub got soaped (I guess from guest's suits). any way to fix it? So far I have shocked with dichlor and spent about 20 minutes scooping out foam with a skimmer, about 4 hours after shocking I added about 2 oz sea-klear, and this morning, I added some spa perfect enzyme stuff, but I was just about out and need to get some more.

The foaming is much less today, but it is still very cloudy. Am I wasting my time trying to fix it? Should I just drain and refill? The water is only one month old.

Exactly, when you add clarifiers and enzymes you always want to follow up by cleaning the filters out the next day.

I had a similar situation when my daughter went in the tub slathered with cortisone cream.
I’m a newbie, but here’s what I did:
I double-dosed with the weekly dichlor treatment & ran the pumps for about 90 minutes after each dose.  Cleaned the filter.  Let it sit overnight.
Next day I rebalanced the TA because it was off.  Then repeated the double dichlor treatment.  Added a tiny bit of anti foam.
This cleared it right up & I didn’t have to change the water.

Water is the cheapest chemical you can add to any spa.

Time is money.

I drain and refill whenever I have guests in my tub....

Chas is right, don't fight it.  Drain it and start fresh.  You'll save yourself a lot of aggravation.

I will third that motion...you will add more junk to get rid of the foam than it's worth!

as usual, the experts are right. I did go get more enzyme stuff and did a "double dose" hoping it might help. This morning, I could not tell any improvement, so I got out the trusty sump pump and had it drained, cleaned and refilling in just over and hour. I'll be soakin in fresh water by this evening or sooner

thanks again!
