During the month of December, 2004, my 1999 Artesian Piper Glen suffered a number of problems, eventually resulting in the need for major repairs, including replacing the main spa controller circuit board. Unfortunately, Artesian no longer had any dealers in my local area and none of the local companies were interested in helping me. Ultimately, I ended up fixing the spa myself. Fortunately, a number of people on this forum, including dealers who don't even sell Artesian spas, helped me through this process. Without their assistance, I would not have been able to successfully repair my spa.
In 1995, a guy by the name of Ted Kaczynski (a.k.a. the "UNABOMBER") wrote in his "manifesto" that:
"The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in "advanced" countries."
Well, at least from my perspective, old Ted was WAY wrong (maybe if he had a tub, he would have stayed on his meds). I spoke with people in Colorado, Canada and California, and a bunch of other places, ALL of whom were happy to help. Without the Internet, this would NOT have happened.
More importantly, without the "community" of this forum, without members acting - for the most part - anonymously and without the incentive of economic gain, without the determination of a few individuals to REALLY help me, I would have never been able to fix my tub AND get stuff done as easily – and cheaply – as I did. I think Ted, in his twisted mind, was never able to understand or believe in the caring and charitable nature of most good people. Certainly many of you, who are regularly present here, MORE than meet such a description. THANKS to all of you!
