It's a chlorine free shock that acts as an oxidizer.

ya what those two said.  Are useing it or thinking of useing it?

I switched over to that about 2 mths ago.  Before that I was using Dichlor to shock. Let me tell you I love the MPS  I would not go back now.  It does a great job.  I always noticed a clorine smell and now I do not the water even feels better after I shock.  Its good stuff 8)

It can also activate your sanitizer...
